This is a very remote and rough trail and may be more than you bargained for if you're used to well marked trails and signage. The best (safest) way is to go with someone experienced and knowledgeable about the area. This is classic Lovell Canyon hiking - dense brush and cactus interspersed with rocky, sandy washes. Prime area for mule deer, bighorn sheep and some elk. Hunters and horse back riders have used these Lovell Canyon trails to enjoy the views down into Red Rock Canyon for many years. If you ride stock to this overlook, you'll want to stay up on slopes and the ridge lines, instead of washes.

MUST have high clearance vehicle. Five star view at peak - the mountains and rock faces are truly breathtaking. There isn’t really a trail - we used the map and our compass. It’s not marked at all - once you enter the wilderness, eventually you’ll follow the wash with rock stack markers here and there, then climb thru wilderness to the peak. It took us more than 5 hours with an extra mile and snack breaks.

This is a fantastic hike. You should download waypoints from birdandhike.com in order to stay on the trail. Once you get to the top, hang a left and follow the ridgeline for about a mile and you'll hit an awesome slickrock area.
