Beautiful walk along the bluffs above roaring river. Devil's Kitchen's name is derived from an odd rock outcrop that formed a roomlike enclosure. According to legend, this room, which has since collapsed, was used as a hideout by Civil War guerrillas. This is a beautiful, brisk walk around the bluffs at roaring river, with limestone bluffs, ledges, caves and springs. It is considered by many to be a favorite walk around the park and offers a wide variety of flora and fauna native to the area. Fishing is good so do not forget to grab your pole along with your gps and stay a while and enjoy the great outdoors here.

Great day to hike this trail. Streams and mini waterfalls were flowing nicely. Also the icicles hanging from the bluffs were pretty cool. Trail was in good shape but a bit slippery.

Short and challenging hike with interesting sights and features. Can be slick after rain. Poles are helpful for trekking and tearing down spider webs across trail. I hiked this in combination with other trails in Roaring River Park as a training hike for a Grand Canyon rim to rim hike. I do wish the park had a better map/navigation of the entire trail system they have out there.

Nice short trail. You hike past some nice rock bluffs and there's some places to explore that are fun in the rocks and some caves. No great big views but was still enjoyable. Some steep up and down along the way.

Trail was well maintained. Very easy to follow. There was a few spots that were pretty steep. There were streams and a few small caves you can climb back into.

Pretty crowded trail on the weekends, weekdays are better. Beautiful views. Not for beginners.

Fantastic trail for the family. Our 6 and 8 year old had a blast climbing all the bluffs and rocks...as did I. Very well maintained and the view was gorgeous. We will be back to explore some more of this area.

My 11 year old boys and I enjoyed this hike! Lots of interesting rock formations, inclines for a good challenge, and pretty even during this time of year. Looking forward to returning when things turn green!

Great little hike, it does have some elevation gain but not bad. rock formations are a highlight. Adult jungle gym. Round trip for myself was under 1 hour.

nice hike. took all 4 of our kids, including a 3 and 5 year old. they did get a little tired in the uphill, but we made it. wish there had been a bit more along the trail to explore though.

Fun and moderate trail. Couple spots if you have small children to help them up. Good spot for some bouldering about half way.

What a treat! I hiked this after Fire Tower Trail on a beautiful November day. Loved the limestone formations that you can climb on and explore in and around. Some climbing on this trail; I followed it clock-wise. I think "Moderate" is a fair rating. Will definitely hike this again.

An easy hike. A few bluffs and rock outcroppings to see nothing to extraordinary.

Great trail .

Hiked this trail this morning. I would start by saying that it was a great trail. BUT it is not a good trail for very young kids. It is very steep. Pretty much you go straight up. It levels off a bit then you go straight down. The walk down was a bit slick and you have to be very careful. Saw a family walking in on our way out and I was genuinely worried about the young boy they had with them that was having a very hard time keeping his footing. This trail is an interpretive self guided trail so be sure to get a white pamphlet from the nature center so you will know what they are wanting you to see at each station. There are three small caves on this trail that they will let you go into. My favorite part was the last station where the Devils kitchen is. This trail definitely gives you a workout but was fun overall.

This was a beautiful trail, easy to find off the Buffalo River parking lot. The whole trail is in the woods and shady and it circles and goes though beautiful rock formations you can climb on or between. There is some incline to give it some difficulty, but overall I’d love to return with my kids! Beware poison ivy and ticks.

This is a great hike to take with kids! Lots to see and scramble on. This route has a connection that leads to the hatchery, deer leap trail, fire tower trail or river trail, so using the connections helps in finding the distance you want.

Wife and I just walked this on vacation. I wouldn’t call it a hike as much as a walk. Big hilly sections though. My suggestion when you get to the loop... go right. The pools in the picture were more the creek outside the trail though not in the trail.

It was a fun trail but more of just a walk with stairs. I wouldn't classify it as a true trail to hike. Close to the hwy so I could hear traffic. Took away from my purpose for being out in nature.

Nice overall hike. Bit of a steep climb early on. The trail does run parallel to the road for a stretch so the sound of the cars took away from feeling out in nature. Other trails in the area making it easy to do several while you are out there. Be prepared to fight for parking with people fishing if you go on the weekends during season.

Beautiful area. Frequently patrolled and safe. Great family campground.
