This is a horse trail but good for an easy hike. Well marked and many trails on the interior of this loop could be used to lengthen or shorten the hike. Perhaps 10 parking spaces at the Kelly Rd. entrance but there are several other entry points.

A wonderful trail system with many routes you can combine to get the length and sights you want. Well-marked by both signs and horses, so watch your step! We did it on a dry, snowless December day. Looks like parts of it could be quite wet in the spring.

Beautiful trail. Outstanding scenery. Slightly Difficult terrain due to this trail mainly being for horses. Most of the ground is unlevel in muddy areas. Careful during hunting season as well. Saw a few hunters in orange wandering in the distance off the trails.

Took a shorter route. Was fun and nice easy walk.

I highly recommend this trail. The area is very beautiful, and peaceful. I saw very few people on a gorgeous sunny Fall day. There was minimal road noise or other distractions. There is some deep sand and occasional deep mud, but really not much considering the length of the trail.

Almost entirely in heavy woods setting. Lots of horse poo to dodge. Trail is well marked.

Overall a very fun trail spread throughout the woods. This is the horse trail so I’ll be on the lookout for surprises and there were a couple muddy spots that were washed out but take your time and you should make it through no problems. Definitely will be back! Next time we will use the monks Road location as a starting point instead of Kelly Road. The monks starting point offers more parking and there is a restroom if you need to go.

Mainly a horse trail with ubiquitous horse turds. Kinda pretty, some wild flowers, lots of birds singing away.

Thanks to the Pinckney Trail Riders Association for the great condition of the trails and nice improvements at the Monks Road lot. Trail is great for hiking, among the hilliest in PSRA. Take the loop clockwise and, at #7, go #8-10-11-14-15-27-29-10 to add miles and some nice (for SE Michigan) elevation changes; hitting them clockwise makes the steeper bits uphill. Get a marker map from the PTRA website or from DNR - the trails are mostly very well marked in normal, wonderful, PSRA style, but several markers have been completely spray painted black or had their maps stolen. Between #1 and #39 on south side, lots of brambles encroaching the trail. Trail condition generally very good for early spring. Additional pics, mostly scenery and birds, as well as higher resolution versions of my trail pics here are at https://johnmetzler.smugmug.com/Parks/Pinckney-State-Recreation-Area/PSRA-Equestrian-trails/.

Mostly flat with the exception of a few good inclines, lots of wildlife, mediocre scenery but nice and secluded.
