easy hike. i stopped at rough trails first creek crossing due to high water and no foreseeable crossing point without getting wet feet. just not feeling that today.

I used Alltrails pro for 1st time. It was an easier hike knowing where I was at all times. Great trail.

Little bit of everything flat runs to steep downhill and uphill climbs. Views of the mountains to a running creek that had butterflies flying around your head.

A first overnight backpacking trip for me and friends. Nice trail, good quality pack with two significant down and ups. The side to Hidden Arch may have been the prettiest but most difficult part of the trail. We had a great campsite and a great time.

Good Trail, difficult in a couple areas, (Rough trail earned it’s name) and GPS tracked us as going over 10 miles, not the 8.1 as listed. Camping spot at intersection of Koomer and Buck trails is closed off for reclamation but good camping in a few spots mostly where trails meet.

Not a loop trail,Begins at Koomer Ridge Campground and ends at a junction with Rough Trail. Silvermine Arch is not on this trail as another reviewer posted.

Nice flat hike at the top. We camped right before you head down until the valley.

I did this solo as a loop connecting a few other trails (trails listed at bottom of review). This hike was actually a little over 8 miles long. All Trails app locked up on me while hiking (it tends to do that with a bad data connection). The loop doesn't have a tremendous amount of beautiful vista's like other hikes in RRG. But if you like quiet, and solitude, this is a great workout during the weekdays. Saw only one couple the entire time. Although this was not "technically" challenging per se, it was certainly a tough workout! The Rough Trail/Sheltowee Trace section, along with the entirety of Buck Trail are really up and down, with steep elevation change. Buck Trail feels like it will never stop on your quads! Now I know why the uphill sections are nicknamed "Buck You" lol. Koomer Ridge Trail is quite tame until the very end when you decend into Chimney Top Creek. Keep in mind, I'm 330lbs and 41y/o, so what is challenging for me may not be for you. Koomer Ridge Trail #220 to Rough Trail #221 to Pinchem Tight Trail #223 to Buck Trail #226 back to Koomer Ridge Trail #220. Note: Rough Trail #221 & The Sheltowee Trace #100 run together on this hike for a little.

Great hike, a lot to look at thruout the hike. The water crossing were low but enough to get wet, play in, cool down & refill the water bottles. Dogs loved it as well & plenty of flowers to look at along the hike.

I started with this trail, but would have been disappointed if I went to it after doing some of the others. A great trail to start with on your trip.

Great hike.

This trail contains Silvermine Arch and Hidden Arch. Both were neat, but since it hasn't rained in a while, the falls were non-existent. Would be better after some rain.

Great hike! Less cliffs and more forest hiking, but I'd still rate it a 6/10 for difficulty, mainly due to the distance. Some stream crossovers and fairly steep hills to traverse. Me, my wife, our dog and our three kids (ages 5, 7 & 11) conquered this trail in roughly 6.5 hours. We took plenty of breaks and had lunch near an awesome stream!

Well maintained trail. About 1300 ft ups and downs. Need to revisit when the rhododendrons are in bloom!

One of the regions best trails! Vistas abound on this fairly basic trail that mostly follows an essentially flat ridgeline or makes its way downhill into the valley where it meets up with a great stream. After over 10 yrs of hiking The Red this and the rough trail are my favorites...and I make sure i visit it every time I go. Should be at the top of your to do list if you haven't been there.

I walked up and down this trail! And looked for that lookout point and couldn't find it! Where is it?!

We combined this trail with the Rough Trail, Pinch-Em-Tight and Buck trails to make an 8-mile loop. Climbing to the ridge tops from Chimney Top creek was quite challenging and overall a great hike.

Koomer Ridge Trail begins as an easy stroll which heads towards a junction with Buck Trail. There is a nice backcountry campsite at this junction. KR breaks NE and slowly begins descending to Chimney Top Creek. Be prepared for an awesome lowland creek bottom with plenty of campsites. This trail ends at a junction with Rough Trail.

Pretty scenery, rather strenous climbs with Buck Creek Trail and the last of Rough Trail but doable. Overall, a good hike but if you are looking for solitude.....crowded, very crowded.
