I went with the intention of running the trail. Faded blazes and blow downs led me to give up on that idea about 2 miles into the Wolf Creek section. However, I did enjoy that side of the lake better than the east side where I found the trails to be boring because of the lack of views. It’s funny, both the best comments and the worst comments in the reviews I read about this trail turned out to be true. In spite of my criticisms, I’ll return to hike here again. However, my next visit is likely to just be an out and back on the Wolf Creek Trail.

Trail in much need of clearing. Poorly maintained.

wolf Creek side not marked vary well. if it's your first time backpacking you may not want to attempt. has a few creeks for water but depends on the the time of year your going if you want to filter from the streams.

This was a great trail. For its length, the elevation change is moderate, not many marshes except for one long stretch, nothing overgrown yet, but parts of the woodland trail will be by late April. Water was also on at the blue hydrant near the road on the Templeton Creek trail area.

There were some marshy places. Some blazes have faded. Looks like an ATV has made some trails that can be confusing. It's a long hike but there are some places one can take a "nap". FYI.

It is early in the year but many parts of the trail are not marked well. Several parts I was GPS hiking with this app. There are two water crossings that appeared to have had bridges but they are gone. The water was knee deep at one and with temperatures in the 30 I had to add some road mileage to get around it. I called the park prior to ask about problems like this and was told the trail was “fine”. If you just want mileage this hike is fine. I think it is too long for no back country camping to be enjoyable.
