We hiked this trail yeaterday, beautiful end of Fall hike! The road to the trailhead was in excellent condition( I drove my 2002 Honda Accord) but pretty icy,snow-covered the last 2 miles before the sharp R. turn at the end.I have all season tires on though and had no trouble...I agree with reviewer Karin Patzke on the mileage of the trail, it looks as if the Forest Service road has been closed off since this original report thus making the TH parking a 1/2 mile sooner than is stated on All Trails"Directions". It's a little bit unclear as to where the Queen Mountain trail continues after the Lake but simply follow the trail to the left, (to the right is a camping area) and bear R at the junction in about a mile - give or take - you'll be at the base of Queen Mountain in ~10 minutes. We just walked up the side of it 'till we got the view we were looking for!! The Lake was iced over and no bugs! :)

Beautiful trail to Queen Mountain via Queen lake! A bit longer than depicted on maps: Forest road 2542 ends sooner and turns into the hiking trail, making it about 4.6 miles out and back. Last part to the top of Queen Mountain was a bit of a scramble. Bring bug spray! Tons of mosquitoes at trailhead, along first part of trail and near Queen lake. Had perfect weather with lots of sunshine and a few clouds.

Trail is good, short and mostly sweet a little steep at the end. Make sure to bring bug repellent as the lake is absolutely infested with mosquitoes. Even sitting here quietly you can hear the loud buzz of all the mosquitoes.

Trail is fairly easy to follow. We got different mileage. About 2.5 miles one way. Lake is pretty. Didn't get to see the views and got some rain and sleet on the top.

Tried to do it in late May but the road was blocked by a big tree and big snow patch.

Once you find the trail head, its a short uphill hike to the lake. Beautiful and during the week it's empty. Good luck fishing, we didn't have any.
