A nice creekside hike to a meadow and old miners cabin This pretty hike follows Cherry Creek for a ways, then a tributary to a pleasant meadow, where the remains of a miners log cabin still exist. The trail follows the creek, (good fishing) upstream through a variety of trees, wildlife, and views, then turns into a heavy pine forest a short distance to the meadow. Several loops can be made from this hike. The old mine shaft can still be visited about a mile further up this canyon, although bushwhacking is required after a short distance.

Beginning of trail is a steep gradual incline. Once you get to where the trail forks, go left up a super steep hill. If you go right, it’s a rocky up hill trek to third creek. The sign has been broken. We went right towards third creek. We had 7 kids from ages 3-12. At some point I would rate the hike moderate. Hoping to complete the actual hike to the mine shaft another time. Real bummer the directional sign had been tapered with. Beautiful views and wild flowers.

the trail starts out great. ATV could easily use it. 1/2 way the trail turns in to a single person trail. was not able to get to the end because r he trail disappeared.

Beautiful area. We went in the fall, and the colors were absolutely amazing. It is a dirt road for a way towards the end, and a very narrow dirt road at the end.

This was a great trail! There was a lot of uphill climbing that could be difficult for some. The first part of the hike is shaded with lots of little creeks running along the trail. We didn't finish the hike because we ran out of water so I would suggest bringing lots with you. There are lots of wild flowers and great views! It often looked like a scene taken from the sound of music. we had both a dog on a leash and kids with us and they did great. There were a lot of bikers and four wheelers so you need to be carful for those. Also, the road to the trail is a long, narrow, dirt path. If you have a lower car I would not suggest driving on it. we were in a van and we're fine but we had to pass many rvs and it was very scary to do with the narrow roads.
