A cool season gem! Very few bugs and mostly dry trail today. Saw an alligator, some woodpeckers, and lots of butterflies. The Preserve’s website says dogs are allowed on 6 foot leashes, so I took my pup and she had a blast. Make sure to bring water, cause even in January the sun gets hot and there’s not a ton of shade.

Absolutely love this trail!! It is 7.3 miles but a flat walk or bike ride with benches along the way should you need to sit. Lots of animal tracks but only saw a hawk & heron today. I will revisit this trail. Be sure & carry water for you & your 4-legged partner the Florida sun does shine down on parts of this trail! I give it 5 stars!

Wildlife was a little sparse today. Saw a few wading birds and a sunning gator near the 3mile marker.

Nice views of native Florida lands... called a gator into the water at dusk... could hear and see his wakes in the water but didn't get a view of him. Follow me to Alaska! Gwin's Lodge. Cooper Landing, Kenai Peninsula 50 miles due south of Anchorage. Cabin rentals, primitive camping and historic roadhouse restaurant.

Watch out for pygmy rattlesnakes. Saw three on trail today and usually see at least one every time I come. Bring shoes appropriate for mud

Different terrain to what we are used to. We saw an alligator, two wild pigs, great blue heron, snowy egret and a few other small birds, also a bunch of fish in the swamps! Enjoyable!

Go in the cooler weather to avoid the biting insects. Late October, 75 degrees, morning start, thumbs up! Easy to hike well maintained trail. However it is 7+ miles with no amenities but a few benches scattered along the way, so bring your needs and your stamina. Had recently rained so there were a few muddy puddles to tromp through. There is a lot of Florida's natural beauty to see here. Saw no other hikers while i was there but there was a 7 foot alligator sunning on the bank under King Creek Bridge.
