We did this Trail July 20th In counterclockwise direction. Once you reach treeline you have to cross a snowfield but fairly easy to do with poles. You can do without. Then you began the climb to the saddle which is completely snow free. We tried to go down the other side but trail is not visible due to snow and rockfall. The rock was very loose here and we did not feel comfortable going down not knowing the switchbacks. We turned around and went back. It was still a beautiful hike.

My friend and I hiked this trail 3 days ago. We started on the West side of Jub Weibe and accesses Sneffels from Deep Creek. The trail can be easy to lose once you pass the waterfall due to snow. We were thankful for this ap! We made it to the bottom of the saddle which is typically scree on the scramble up. Right now it is 100% snow and ice. We were nervous about making the ascent and possibly losing control on the ice so we turned around. It’s a long hike if you have to turn around! Ha!

My husband and I attempted this trail today, but the heavy snow covering the trail prevented completion. We started at the Jud Wiebe trailhead, turned onto Mill Creek, and then onto the Sneffels Highline Trail. Once on Sneffels Highline the trail was much more narrow. We saw many deer tracks and even bear scat. The birds were chirping away and it was extremely peaceful on the trail. There were many areas with stunning views of the surrounding mountains! We made it all the way up to 11,500 ft elevation before we were forced to turn back around. We traveled over a mile through snow and even used maps to find alternate routes to get through the area quicker. We finally realized it was too risky to continue so we returned back down the way we came. On the way down we saw a grouse and mule deer. This was still an amazing hike!!! One of the best we’ve ever done! Keep in mind, when it says it’s a hard trail, it’s a hard trail! Especially if you’re not used to the elevation.

Great trail with incredible views and wildflowers. Going counterclockwise from the Jud Weibe trail, the first two hours are strenuous, but not too difficult. After that, it is mostly downhill and easy, but long.
