Trail was easily passable in our ‘03’ Jeep Wrangler sport with no special mods. Took this trail starting at Buena Vista. Neat photo op of the old railroad tunnels along the Arkansas river just before you turn east onto county road 375 from county road 371. Not far in there is a small water crossing but today it was only 4-6” deep and the bottom was pebbles and fairly solid. Zero issues, didn’t even engage 4wd. Lots of bush and tight blind corners for a while so watch for oncoming traffic. We only encountered about 3 other vehicles on the entire trail and they were all traveling west to BV, while we were heading east. A couple of nice spots to stop up top with good views of antero, Princeton, Harvard to the west. About 1/3 of the way in (from BV side) there is a short steep uphill section and rock garden, which is probably best in 4wd just for insurance purposes of traction and climbing. Also, about 1-2mi from hwy 24, there are also two sections of unavoidable rock gardens. A higher vehicle clearance is definitely helpful in this area (pic posted of one of these sections). Some soft sand scattered throughout the first half of the trail, but very passable and not so bad if you pick good lines to save some bump in’ and rockin’. We only engaged 4wd (high) on about 3 locations.

Lenhardy Cutoff is like most of the trails in the area, mostly smooth and even plain-dirt-road-like sections. I believe it has the hardest obstacle section in the area, it's downhill in this video and is a bunch of basketballs and holes. There are quite a few lines up and down it and it's pretty fun. Be careful, it's kind of hard to tell in the video but those rocks are slippery when wet. I can't believe I got through without any frame bangers, a couple times I'm steering one way and sliding the other. Nothing too crazy but one of the few trails open this time of year, if you'd like to watch a video of my run check it out below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xgl5DwWPVGE

What a fun, super easy trail to do during the off season. The last 3rd of the trail was closed do to reclamation projects. Great views and lots of great hiking trails along the way as well.

I did this trail in a Stock 2017 GMC Canyon Diesel 4x4. I'm not that experienced but I was able to get through without any issue. Its definitely not easy but not difficult. Took a little less than 2 hours. I was not trying to rush at all. The air dam on the front of the bumper scraped once, but other than that, my clearance was fine when going slow. There is a pretty long stretch of rocks. The other review said 300 feet, but I remember thinking "no way" but maybe I was concerned for my wheels haha. it took the most amount of time. There is also a large sandy stretch where its kind of deep and loose but easy with 4WD. A few steep inclines/declines but nothing crazy. This was mid sept 2017. Going pretty slow, only one ATV passed me. Coming the opposite direction a couple trucks and a group of ATVs. Mostly was just me the whole time.

Great trail with even better views, only one area that was pretty rocky for a few hundred feet.
