This trail starts in an old part of Boulder with a quick elevation climb to get the heart pumping. Once on the mesa, follow the trail into the trees and around to the left for a short loop. You will be on the Mesa trail for a short while. Notice what selective tree removal has done while you hike. There is a map at the trailhead.

Great hike!!!! The sun was out and it was perfect weather! There are some ice patches on the stairs especially at the end! I would recommend spikes to help but you can do it without! Just take it slow!

Some icy patches in the shade and was thankful to have yaktraks.

Great trail. We went right after a blizzard so it was a little difficult, but it was beautiful. Snow covered trees, sparkling fresh snow on the ground. My pup and I had a blast! Would definitely suggest it. We got there around noon and hiked for 4 miles. Finished around 3:30pm (stopped for photo ops and to play. Plus the snow made it harder than normal). Such a fun day!

Good quick hike for me and the pup, was just enough to wear him out and a good morning Kickstarter for me.

A little muddy in spots and a few ice packed areas but overall in good shape for hiking. It's a nice quick hike with a fairly decent ascent in the beginning to warm up those legs. I arrived around 8am on a Saturday and it wasn't very busy. Pretty views.

Sharp uphill stairs at the beginning but it’s over before you know it! Steady uphill the rest of the way. Easy to get lost but there were enough people on a Saturday afternoon (late Oct) that we were able to make something of a rough loop. Take your phone so you can pull up this app!

Good trail, I prefer enchanted Mesa nearby but still a good hike. Idk why but the trail is kind of hard for me to follow even as an experienced hiker with the weaving in and out of the canyon trail.

Dry trail, the wildflowers were scarce until you got towards the end, but keep going because they do show up! we We met very few hikers until we got to the end as well. We enjoyed it, the initial ascent was a toughy at 11AM, but there's enough shade to make the hike doable.

went with Vaishali and Lindsey. Not very trafficked and very beautiful!

Nice dog friendly trail! Moderate climb at beginning, nice and flat the rest of the way. Hiked it on Monday morning started at 930 took 2 hours of taking our time. Saw a handful of other hikers.

Hard hill at the start, then it really evens out. Good, low to moderate traffic trail. **Kohler Mesa is not labeled as the first trail you will run into. Keep on hiking and then you'll see a "government property" sign. Go past that and you'll see signs for Kohler Mesa! :)

Great for a trail run with my dog. I suggest early morning because the exposed spots get hot! I started at 7am. There is a small stream at the turnaround. I added Mallory Cave trail for and extra <2 miles. Took me a little over 2 hours in whole (6 miles). Pretty wildflowers too. Some other hikers mentioned seeing a bear but I didn’t see one.

Beautiful trail! Amazing view of the flat irons and a great balance of uphill and flat areas. It is heavily trafficked but still worth the time! Amazing hike to do with friends, family, and your fuzzy kids

The wildflowers along the trail are stunning! It was such a beautiful hike, but I would definitely classify this more on the easy side. I did this with my daughters (15 & 10), and my ten year old who usually moves at a sloth’s pace boogied up with no issues. There were random areas with mud and slop, but very easy to navigate around.

Great trail. I detoured from the proposed loop and came down skunk canyon trail. Unless you want to hike back down through the trees, I highly recommend it. Great views most of the way down.

Fun trail to kick off the season! Really short and mellow. Muddy at times. And there are so many trails in that area; it can be a little confusing but we figured it out

Loved this trail!! ...definitely still muddy and sloshy but doable for sure. I think ‘moderate’ is a stretch, it’s more on the easy side. Gorgeous views after you get through the forest portion and come around into the valley are. May be the prettiest hike I’ve been on in the Boulder area.
