This Trail begins in the meadows off Dunton Road, then travels through nice forests and ascends into alpine meadows before reaching the falls. Trail continues on for those that want to ascend El Diente or Mt. Wilson.

A beautiful hike, pretty easy. It’s a little longer than what it says on AllTrails. It’s about 4.75 miles oneway.

I hiked this trail in conjunction with the Navajo Lake Trail...hiked up to the lake then took Kilpacker on the way down. The upper part of the trail is mostly in the timber, but the scenery on the lower end more than makes up for it, and there is an amazing waterfall on Kilpacker Creek. I really enjoyed the trail.

wildflowers were beautiful, columbines everywhere. first portion of the hike through the forest is extremely buggy. stream crossing 2.5 miles in is running high but is passable.

wonderful trail up to the Kilpacker creek crossing. campsite there smelled like horse pee. next campsite after the creek crossing was spectacular. trail is closed for restoration shortly after Kilpacker creek crossing.

Another beautiful hike. Easy trail in the meadows and woods first half. Then, long ascent to get close to waterfalls right on El Diente mountain and beautiful vistas everywhere you turn. We walked further than walk indicated, hoping to get closer to waterfalls, but it’s quite an ascent, on fairly loose shale and doesn’t actually go to the falls but climbs up above them. The walk was spectacular though

This is such a lovely trail with gentle up and downhill sections. It can be accessed from Navajo Basin Trail or closer to Telluride at the parking area marked “Kilpacker “ which is where we started. I think this is why our trail map is so different from the sites.
