This is a rocky hike along the beach to a shipwreck site. Although the hike is near the road, it has great views. Wear sturdy shoes. Great ocean views, lovely bays, exciting shipwreck to explore, rocky shoreline.

Beautiful views, a little hard on the ankles if you don't have proper shoes. Super Rocky, very unstable rocks. Not for small children.

Beautiful ocean views, but way too difficult to scramble over rocks for 2.5 miles to get to the shipwreck site. We decided to turn around and find another local trail. It’s not really a trail at all, just piles of unstable rocks to climb over.

This is a beautiful shore hike over rocky terrain. If you follow the there and back route, it’s entirely a hike on a loose rocky shore with boulders of varying size. I would classify this as a challenging hike given the uneven and loose terrain. However, the shore is beautiful and offers wonderful panoramic views. I continued past the wreck (really more of some rusty metal objects slightly recognizable as a ship) and climbed the cliffs on the next natural bay. There is also a nice dried river leading to a small waterfall off the beach if you follow it up a bit.

The tank was a better view than the ship but good for the most part. There is a lot of walking on rocks the whole trail . Best to have proper hiking shoes for the comfort of your precious feet.

Although this was a great way to start the year this “hike” was extremely rocky. There is no flat area and your ankles will be extremely sore at the end. I would recommend checking the tide prior to leaving because there are points that you will have a problem crossing with higher tide. When you approach the Shipwreck be care as you are climbing over rocks and it is all rust and you do not want to cut yourself. The walk there is 2.3 miles of solid rocks. We would recommend you walk past the shopwreck and go an additional 1.9 miles to the “trail” at Lunada Bay to climb up the side of the cliff to get back to flat land and walk through the neighborhood to get back. Not sure so will be back as it was difficult with ZERO trails.

Awesome hike! Hey Oliver, this island is one big ROCK! There is nothing negative that can be said about this short hike. The views are spectacular and it’s doable for all ages. Anyone who gives this less than 3 stars has mental issues or needs to stay on the beach and hike

SOFA KING CRAZY! First and foremost, PLEASE check the high tide times. We went at 7 am (high tide was at 9:30) and we were quite close to being swept out to sea. No joke. Do some tide time research beforehand. Second, this hike is absolutely rocky and a tough scramble. Pack light and don’t let the first 1/4 mile fool you, this ain’t a sandy walk on the beach, your ankles will be sore. Third, although this hike is listed as a 4.3 mile “out & back” trail, I would suggest using the shipwreck as a halfway point and keep trekking all the way to Lunada Bay where there is a semi-hidden steep dirt trail up to the neighborhood. Right at the mouth of the gully that feeds into Lunada Bay, there will be a narrow dirt path on the left. Take that and walk back to your car along residential streets. In the end, this hike offers absolutely BREATHTAKING views and, as long as the proper precautions are taken, is very rewarding.

SO ROCKY. Not a bad thing but FYI. Also looking up the tides and going at low tide is a must. Cool ship and cool views

Honestly, this wasn’t fun. As other reviewers have noted, you’re waking on rocks for the entire time, so while there are nice ocean views, you won’t be looking at them much as you need to be very deliberate about your footing. Aside from this, it’s essentially completely flat and not very interesting. There were several dead birds along the way which were not nice to see. Skip this one.

It's a different kind of hike than the usual so be prepared for a different experience. It's not a hike in the woods or even along the beach. You're not climbing a peak. You're basically walking on large rocks along the ocean. You must go at low tide so check the tide table. The debris from the shipwreck is kinda cool. I think it's the kind of hike that if you are in the LA area you should do once just for the experience.

Worth it sort of, but never again. Wear shoes with thick soles lest your feet be battered by the rocks. CHECK THE TIDE TABLES BEFORE GOING!!

It was okay but I would not really consider it a hike. It was more like walking along rocks. Very slow going. It was worth seeing, but I don’t know if I would do it again.
