Great trail- first two sections along the Southern end were my personal favorite, in large part due to the welcoming and awesome people along the way! Visitacion Valley Greenway was magical, as was the scenic but difficult portion through Forest Hills and Golden Gate Hikes. We got to the end at Lands End right at sunset- highly recommend!

we went from Glen Park to Forest Hill. And right now as we emerge from Forest Hill it was a lovely French Bistro called the Chou choy where we are just sitting out to have lunch what a cool day!

We set out to do part of the trail today. It was fantastic. People along the way were very friendly, and we had delicious coffee at the first stop.

LOVED this unique hike! I read about this trail in the New York Times on Thursday, and completed it 2 days later. I strongly recommend that you do NOT leave your car at the southern end of the trail at Candlestick Point, it's not safe. Park at Lands End.

Excellent route! Most of the way is on trails, not sidewalks. It's got great views, a few good neighborhoods, and some trail sections and spots that I hadn't seen before. You won't pass any shops between the bottom of Glen Park and Irving St. But then you have multiple options within a few blocks: noodles, pho, dumplings, fish tacos. We hit Andronico's and ate at Stowe Lake in the park. Great day, tour, and workout.

Don't overlook the SE end of this -- the views from McLaren Park are excellent, and the section through the Visitacion Valley Greenway is a hidden gem.

This is a great way to see the city. The Candlestick area is a little trashy, but don't let that deter you. I've left my car there a couple times and haven't had an issue. Just be smart and don't leave anything in your car. The scenery gets progressively nicer as you work your way across town, ending with stunning views at Lands End. I took the 38R & 29 buses to get back across town and then it was a short walk to Candlestick.

Great urban hike! Skip the portions after Glen Park towards Candlestick Point. Kinda shady and the views were..meh.
