This is a classic 16 mile loop from the Five Brooks trailhead. I took the Greenpicker trail this time and it was better than the Stewart trail fire road. Nice elevation gain on this hike along with beautiful views. Plus walking on the beach avoids the descend on the cliffs to the beach from the usual trail. Unfortunately, the tide was still too high and we couldn’t walk all the way to Alamere Falls on the beach. We had to backtrack on the beach and take the Coast Trail above to Alamere Falls. That, of course, put us among the crowds at mid day and it took forever to go down the cliffs and back up again. Lessons learned: the tide has to be very low to be able to cross on the beach. Even though I checked it beforehand, it was still too high (maybe 2 ft.) to cross because of the waves pounding the rocks.
