As of 2/25/2019, users have reported that this area has some trail closures. Please contact the park for more information. Beware of mountain lions, rattlesnakes, and poison oak. The Edgewood Trail runs east to west on the northern side of the park. The trail has junctions with the Franciscan Trail and Serpentine Loop. Starting from the east, in the Day Camp parking lot, one has a strenuous first half mile with an approx. 9.5% uphill grade.

Nice afternoon hike. Some freeway noise but ok. Nice views of the peninsula, bay and crystal springs skyline. Totally doable.

Came for a run but realized the trails were slightly muddy and uneven...although I did see many runners! Saw at least half a dozen deer. A portion of the trails are close by the main road and get a lot of traffic noises. But thankfully its only 10-15% of the hike.

nice relaxing walk. some parts of the trail were by the highway and a little exposed to the elements. still a nice enjoyable trail. took about an hour and fifteen minutes and not very strenuous at all.

Loved it. Hiked midday on Monday. Limited trail traffic that includes no deer or mountain lions. Many birds and lizards. Steady incline to start which was good to get the heart beating and the body warm. Was able to carry conversation with my hiking partner the entire back half. Did get disoriented twice but All Trails was active throughout and got me right back on the trail! Finished in 90 minutes with a good 20 mins of that going in the wrong direction. Lol!

Hiked around 4pm on a weekday. Lots of deer presence close to sundown. Saw over a dozen, all in groups of 2-4. Decent quick Loop with an incline in the beginning which ever side you start on. If you don’t make significant stops it can be completed in 1.5 hrs or less. Lots of intersecting trails though so I really had to use the map on my first out. Top of the hill butts up to 280 so it is heard and seen. Other side of the hill looks down on the bay.

**NOTE: Not seeing any other reviews that say it, so you should know there are warning signs for mountain lions and rattlesnakes, in addition to deer and poison oak. A runner said he runs the trail 3x a week and not to worry. Another person said a couple mountain lions have been spotted over the last couple days, so idk. I kept a steady fast walk, as to not become prey, just in case. Great trail.. I think. Started at dusk and it was completely dark 1.5 miles in. Beautiful sunset, despite the highway in the background. It’s seriously so dark, and more than half of the Edgewood/Ridgeview Trail is heavily wooded. Saw a group of 7 or so deer at the start of the Ridgeview Trail after passing the highway. I think they got Daylight Savings calculation wrong this year, cause the sun has been down by 7 pm. Stay safe out there!

Fun to do this hike at night to catch the twinkle glows of the valley.

Unfortunately, no flowers around this time. Just the white ones. Everything is dry, but you get a decent view as you go up of everything. This is an easy trai.

You can walk as far as you want with all the different tails that intersect each other. Just be careful you don’t get disoriented. I just the tail recording on this app. Major difference and extremely helpful.

Nice easy walking trail. You’re either going up or down, but it’s not that steep. I saw several deer along the way. I completed the trail in about 1.5 hours.

An easy trail with elevation as you begin but then immediately flattens out with not much challenge thereafter. wished to see some wildlife but haven't lucked out

very nice trail. a bit of a climb for the first half. But very worth it for the nice views from the top. Also a nice mix of sunny and shaded spots.

A scenic trail with a surprising amount of wildlife. The deer aren't spooked if you are close, you might see some walking on the trail ahead of you.

This hike was just ok. A portion of this hike is not shaded so make sure to bring a hat and sunscreen! Lots of poison oak.

A good well marked trail. Loads of lizards at this time of the year though!

Not that many wild flowers though. But overall it’s a good trail with decent maintenance and amazing view. As the it rains a lot recently in the Bay Area, the trail becomes as green as places in Hawaii :)

We did this trail on weekend, lots of visitors for wild flower walk, parking was tough. We chose Sylvan, Serpentine trails - very mellow hill, lots of shades. There are wild flowers blooming along the way, but need some imagination to find 'flower carpet'. This park has the best marked trail sign and map, very helpful.

The trail was beautiful and pretty clean. If you're trail running by yourself however I'd make sure to arrive before 8 (or dark depending on the time of year). I got here as the sun peaked behind the hills and it got dark quickly. Also, I strongly believe I was stalked by a mountain lion and the deer were running the opposite direction towards me when I hit some of the areas away from the freeway noise. Anyway, I made it safely but was the only one in the parking lot when I was done. Little scary so be careful out there.

great little hike just as described nice views. I only saw three people on the trail. I don't really feel like it was a moderate height because I was so short. same terrain with another four miles might be moderate. all in all nice day

A perfect spring time hike! Lots of wild flowers, shade and sun, nice view, and a creek... and rattle snakes mating :))).

Somewhat muddy in spring, but worth it for its quiet and proximity to the city, with great hilltop views and spring wildflowers.
