Please note that as of April 2019, the Waterfall Spur Trail has recently been closed. This loop can still be done, but will be slightly longer (if the Waterfall Trail is closed). This exact route is no dogs but almost all the trails in Armstrong follow a road and you can have your dogs on the road.

Beautiful trail. It is a bit uphill in some spots, but not to much. Highly recommend this trail

Great trail. Good combination of challenging uphill and an easier area on the river. Saw deer and a few birds. Waterfall not flowing at this time in October.

Great trail! I started up East Ridge which is a nice, steep climb right from the parking lot before the gate to get the heart pumping. The initial climb is the most challenging part of the hike followed by a descent into the redwoods. The little turnout to the waterfall is open, the falls were trickling, and there was no observed closed areas on the trail. I added in the Redwood Discovery trail which I highly suggest. Flat and easy but beautiful and a quick way to add a bit more distance. Approximate total hike for me was about 3.2 miles and took me a little over an hour to complete with stops for a few pictures. Not too busy and perfect for a quick workout. I'd do it again.

Great well kept and marked trail that takes you between and inside the huge redwoods.

Some steep parts. We saw wild turkey along the way.

Great hike thru the historic redwoods of California! Great forestry and relatively intense ascent for ~600 feet...can do quickly for a good workout. The waterfall area shows it is shut down but it’s only 1 fallen tree so it’s definitely available to hike...with water in the waterfall!

Says trail is closed but I had no problem completing it. Just have to step over a tree or two. Not the best views- the trees block the view but beautiful forestry.

I went in mild rain. So green and beautiful. I ended up not doing loop as I went further north and then back. Really cool and saw nobody for 1.5 miles then several people later. Got more and more crowded after 11 am.

The trail is pretty easy to follow and the beauty of the redwoods can’t be beat. I haven’t been here in years but feel inspired to go back soon.

Beautiful trail. We could have sat on the bench by the waterfall for hours and the trees were incredible. Pure magic. Recommend layers because even with the shade of the trees you’ll heat up with the incline. The trail was challenging in places but fun. We struggled with getting off trail the last 45 minutes but found our way back on. Highly recommend and agree that it’s moderate!

Completed trail on 14 May 2017. Trail listed is a combination of 3 seperate trails (Armstrong Redwoods Tour Trail, East Ridge Trail, and Waterfall Trail). We started on the Armstrong Tour that was very easy and a nice stroll through giant Redwood trees, then followed the ridge back from the welcome center. This portion was definitely more difficult with very steep climb to the ridge top. The Waterfall trail is a very steep and difficult climb from the parking area east parking area to the East Ridge trail.

Depending on which direction you start first, one half of the trail is a lot of up hill and down hill, the other half is all flat and goes through the camp ground. There's a lot to look at and a lot of big beautiful redwood trees, there's also a creek/waterfall. I can't wait to go back!

Lotta people, but this place is absolutely magical. Redwoods are spectacular and hiking amongst them is a true honor. Did a modified loop with the fam.

All the trails say no dogs but almost all the trails in Armstrong follow a road and you can have your dogs on the road. You don't miss too much by following the road.

Great trail! Just enough challenge and distance for my 10 year old nephew! Would do it again!

It was great. I would not say this is an easy trail initially. The first 45 mins was a straight up hill climb. I brought my dog but it was unclear to me if he was allowed?
