fairly difficult, and time consuming, just plug and your music and go

Not a bad hike through the hills. I was hoping for it to be harder. Just moved from the PNW. This is moderate at best. The beginning is not at all sketchy with some loose rocks. People have complained about dog poop but that is actually from coyotes. You can tell by the amount of berries in it from the manzanita bushes. Pretty exposed trail, too.

I liked this trail. Definitely challenging, if I do it again will be poles as the descent getting back to the car is a bit hard on the knees. Liked that it was overgrown, it's nature.

This trail is terrible. Completely overgrown. Dog poop everywhere. There were notices about mosquitos and West Nile virus at the start of the trail. We decided to turn around 0.5 miles in and go up the mountain via a different trail. The only upside was the beautiful wildflowers.

Pros: 1) not very busy at all, even on a Saturday. The trails are secluded and you don’t feel like you’re in San Diego :) 2) lots of wildflowers! Cons: 1) some muddy spots and sections of trail closed off, but easy enough to get around 2) no trash receptacles for dog poop so plan to pack it out with you Overall, a fun challenging hike with some amazing views!

Really underrated trail and glad to see it on here. Parking is just in a neighborhood cul de sac, so very limited, and the first real climb is STEEP and full of loose rocks. Once you get up to the ridgeline, it's easy rolling hills until you get more into the park proper, and the last slog up black mountain is the fire road that most visitors know well. It's really the first mile and a half of this one that makes it- usually almost deserted and very quiet.
