Lake Views, Interpretive Signs and Brochures, Well-Maintained Trail The Woodland Trail provides an excellent introduction to and explanation of the flora indigenous to Big Bear Lake. An informative interpretive guide is provided at the trailhead, with descriptions corresponding to the twenty numbered signs along the trail. Differences between Western Juniper and Incense Cedar are explained, and a number of very common plants discovered at this altitude are identified. The approximately one-and-one half mile loop features mildly steep sections along a well-maintained trail, making this hike is an appropriate warm-up hike for "flatlanders" adjusting to the mountain altitude prior to treks along the Cougar Crest or Gray's Peak trails located nearby, and spectacular lake views existing near the loop's completion provide an enjoyable experience for hikers of nearly every level of ability.

Such a fun trail to hike with our four kids. The trail head is tricky to find unless you know what to look for-hint-fallen branches creating a small path. The beginning is icy and slippery: we visited in mid January.

Loved this hike for my 3 yr old. Most of the snow was melted but still plenty of spots to for him to play in.

Went during snowstorm - one of the few hikes with an accessible trailhead when the plows are operating. Perfect for conditions when you don’t want to spend too long outside, but still need to fight off some cabin fever and want to appreciate the beautiful scenery here. Also has some great sledding hills!

Fun trail. Pretty easy up and down. Good hike for families. Or a warm up for a more strenuous hike. Lots of forest and views to photograph

This is a walk in the Big Bear forest, much like many other such walks. The only difference is this one is a bit wider, has numbered signs, and is more populated. Couple nice views of Big Bear Lake and Snow Summit through the trees. Brochures for the trail were out of stock when I went, so not sure what every number was for. Adventure Pass Required. Wouldn’t recommend buying a pass just for this trail. But if you already have a pass it’s a decent walk
