Note: There are winter closures in this area, please contact the park before attempting this loop. Explore the mixed forest and meadowland in this beautiful county park. The Alambique Trail follows the contours of the hillside and intersect with the Skyline Trail. It was a little confusing at first where you're supposed to park. You pass the lot if you're going south on Skyline. Looks like there used to be a short trail from the lot to the trail but it's closed off so you have to walk on the highway. Be careful! No major elevation change, or obstacles. Overall a nice walk in the woods.

This is one of my favorite trails, all shaded, very wide, lots good view of South Bay. The up and down hill are not so steep. Love it!

Most part of the trails are under shade. Perfect!

Really nice. Wide trail. Very easy. Pretty. Would be nice for a family or mixed ages/levels. Can you park across the street from the entrance? I parked down Skyline at El Corte de Madera hiking parking lot. There are bathrooms there and it is a short walk down Skyline but still not great. If going in a group, you might want to drop folks at the trailhead.

Part of this trail is closed due to fallen trees and erosion. Ideal for trail running as the grade is gradual. I would label as moderate.

Nice tour belong Redwood, Oak and Eucalypt trees. Area needs some rain, though. Quite dusty trail.

Great, mellow trail. Mostly shaded, some sun sprinkled areas. It was cool and foggy, but burned off a little. Mossy growth, clear wide trail. An easy loop with great birdsong in Spring. Pretty wildflowers and fantastic smells.

I did this on a Saturday and saw one person the entire trip- I love when the trail is completely bare and I can be in nature. Nice and quiet with a slight decline during the Alambique and then a slight steady incline through Skyline. Perfect 4.5 to stretch the body out.

It was a little confusing at first where you're supposed to park, as you pass the lot if you're going south on Skyline. Looks like there used to be a short trail from the lot to the trail but it's closed off so you have to walk on the highway. Definitely a little scary! Once you get to the trail it's a LOVELY hike. I'd personally rate it as EASY. No major elevation change, or obstacles. Definitely kid friendly. Overall a nice walk in the woods. Lots of trail runners out today. Too bad that it's not dog friendly.

Beautiful forest, good workout with a decent climb, but not too hard. Lots of deer. Pretty drive too.

A less known but still very accessible trail. Redwoods, Madrones, Oaks and Elms are all prevalent. Nice single trail that stays fairly level and even along the roughly 4.5 mile loop. Enjoy!!

Trail is great....but dogs/pets not allowed. The all trails overview is incorrect. Says dogs are allowed on leash.

Nicely shaded hike. Downfalls: lots of horse manure on the trail and pets are not allowed.

Not a lot of people, good temperature in the summer, very easy. Wide trails.

One of the nicest Redwood Forest hikes within 1h from Mountain View.

Quite a pleasant surprise. Started off at Skyline Blvd, took the southern route (Skyline) to the eastern Alambique (crossover "river"), through the Meadows, to Bear Gulch, back to Alambique (~9 miles). Several distinct floral changes, some pretty descent and long uphills, but nothing too challenging. All trails are wide and flat, and predominantly covered by the forest canopy, with a few spots along the Meadows trails. It's like a mine field dodging all the horse poop, though. A few windows between the trees to see Palo Alto and neighboring cities. Again, quite a lovely trail.
