As others have said, first 2.5 miles are both legal and illegal OHV roads. Look for two cairns on right side of this trail which signals where to turn off and proceed on the user created social trail to summit. Minor scrambling but overall an easy hike. Took us 3 hours 50 minutes and about 7 miles. Follow the white paint and cairns on the singletrack section. Amazing views in the high point of the goldfields!

First mile is dirt road, then a scramble mostly. Small pebbles along the way so not good footing at times. Great view at top. Someone bring a table to sit. No good place to rest at the top. Cell service available all the way.

This trail is mostly a walk along a 4 wheeler trail with loose gravel and rocks. When you do get to the hiking trail it's just more of the same. The most disappointing part is that the view from the summit is not all that impressive. I will not be doing this hike again.

This was a tough one because the trail isn't well marked at all after the 4x4 area. Once we found the trail we came across two rattlesnakes and ended up turning around. Will try this again in the fall now that we know where we're going. Very easy to get off the AT map with this one.

Not going to sugar coat this hike, the 4x4 section of the trail is boring and annoying. However, once you get off that and onto the actual hike up the mountain this is one of the most rewarding hikes I've done. Views are amazing and there was not another soul in sight. It is super challenging and you have to keep your eyes open for the white trail paint or risk losing the trail altogether. If you have hiking poles, bring them on this one. Be sure to add your name to the journal at the top of the mountain.

I would not recommend this trail. The way All Trails has it marked it follows a 4x4 trail for the first 2.5 miles so you have to constantly get off the trail for passing motorists. Once the 4x4 section of the trail ends it's a fairly steep and unmarked trail to the summit. Overall a frustrating hike and I think it's mostly due to the route All Trails has marked.

This was absolutely sirene. I did not run into one person and hiked it in absolute silence for 4 hours...and it was amazing. It's 2.5 miles of hiking dirt road first then elevation gain for a mile following the bunny trail up to the summit. The cairns and white arrows sure helped! Do sign the journal at the top, just signed after you Linda! I suggest to bring a trekking pole to probe for snakes (although I didn't run into any) there's some tall grass and bushwacking, also it's steep with loose gravel! Be safe and come prepared!

I did enjoy this trail...it’s a true hard hike after the 2 mile dirt road....bushwhacked and then some, lol...follow your AllTrails gps and WHITE markers (thank you) No unusual wildlife today, lots of scrambling and slippery loose rocky terrain...Awesome Views from Summit and a Fun Reward to Sign In on The Journal .... Enjoy! No Fees, No Water/Washrooms.

This is a hard trail, and difficult to follow towards the end. That being said, it was very rewarding, and due to the difficulty, not crowded.
