This trail starts in the Sabino Canyon Recreation Area - which does not allow dogs. This is one of the "Must See" hikes in the area, if you're in town for a short while and want a hike with spectacular views of the Coronado National Forrest. After you park your car in the lot, walk over to the Bear Canyon trailhead - it will be off to the right of the visitors center. Shortly after you start the hike you will come to a paved tram road, turn right and walk along the paved tram road until you come to a small building, cross the bridge to your right and start out along the Phoneline trail. You'll see the trailhead sign for Blacketts Ridge Trail. At the top you'll have incredible views of Thimble Peak to the Northeast and an awesome view of the Phoneline Trail way down below. Note: There is a $5 fee to enter the park

Great trail, and pretty intense cardio because of the quick ascend and lots of switch backs. No shade so be prepared. So worth it

Great views of Tucson and surrounding mountains all the way up this steep, rocky hike. Getting to the summit was definitely worth the climb.

Great trail. Exposed to the elements aside from a stray Saguaro here and there. Good to hike with sufficient water. It was cool to go down past the top to see some of the ridge itself. Great views into the canyon.

Stunning views with even better switchbacks! This should be rated moderate not hard. Overall, great hike!

THEY CHARGE AN ADMISSION FEE. For casual day hikers, this came as a bit of a shock, as we brought no money. Please plan in advance. We did not get to go.

This trail truly deserves the hard rating. My sister and I hike all over and both of us were impressed with this one. It's pretty much a continued ascent to the top once you officially start the trail (you begin on Phoneline and then connect to Blackett). With that said, it was completely doable because while strenuous in elevation, it's relatively short in distance which made it still quite an enjoyable hike. The views at the top are breathtaking and because the entire switchback portion is exposed on the side of the mountain, the sunset vistas are incredible! Go hike this if you want a well rewarded challenge!

Great hike, we were in town for the Utah vs Arizona football game and decided to try out a hike. Took about 2 1/2 hours perfect weather and beautiful views along the way and at the top. I would rate more as moderate

I took the long way around to get to the trail head, not knowing that I could go directly to the Phoneline trail from the Visitor Center. I started in the overflow parking, walked up the Tram Route to the Creek Trail. I crossed Sabino which was flowing the week before Thanksgiving. From the Creek, I went to Phoneline Link, up the side of the wall(530 foot elevation gain)to the Phoneline and approached Blackett's Ridge TH from the north. This added about 2.25 miles and a good workout. Blackett's itself is hard. It is very much straight up. But it is rocky and sandy so there are slip considerations as well. It is about 3.5 miles round trip. Take your time on it and it will be fine. Got to see some snow on the Catalinas and Rincons from there. Great views and worth the trip. Problem uploading pics; will try later.

New to hiking but I made it! Amazing views all the way up but the top is the most rewarding.

I love this hike. There was a Mojave rattlesnake at the end of the trail watching the chipmunks.
