It was really good, make sure to start early. It’s very easy to get off track on this hike.

This hike was Ruthless... 30°-60° incline and declines almost the whole hike with mudpockets everywhere.. this is the hike you do when you wake up in the morning and say "I'm looking for a good kick in the Caboose" or even "I feel like a good ol'fashioned injury today".. it doesn't matter how expert of a hiker you are; you will guarantee be on your butt or flat on your back counting the clouds ... OUTSTANDING 360° views.. Watch Lincoln, the amazing pitbull, enjoy this hike @ lincenzobrown on Instagram

This hike was really nice use the all trails app to stay on course. Alot of hills to climb if u go clockwise. I had my walking sticks but 80% of the time you cant really use them on the narrow paths. Crampons are better here and some gloves and pants. you can slide down the paths it's easier because of the steepness. Started at 645 ended at 1145. the turn around point on the map is a nasty climb u can see the picnic tables on the manana trail. we took a break on the meadow then finished up the hike. overall it was challenging I'd say high moderate.

9/29/2019-Started around 0740 and encountered 22 people but mainly along the parts of the path that everyone has to travel to get to the trailhead for Manana Ridge/Waimano Falls. On the Iliahi Ridge Trail itself we were the only ones hiking in the area. The trail was pretty muddy and the ridge sections have little shade (but it was overcast most of the time so it wasn’t too hot). Lots of fruit flies because of the strawberry guava trees but the main issues are that 1) the path is flagged but there are a few dirt bike paths that can lead you off-course, 2) a good portion of the hike is overgrown with scratchy ferns so you either have to hike in long pants or deal with scratched up legs, and 3) some of the climbs uphill are on loose dirt with no good holds so there’s a chance you may go sliding down. If this trail was maintained, it probably wouldn’t have been as slow going as it was for us but the views are pretty nice overall. But due to the trail’s condition we’re not planning to do this one again in the future.

Tough trail! Definitely download the map. We had spotty coverage and took a couple wrong turns and had to back track as it is not always obvious which way to go. Back sections are really overgrown and we were basically bushwhacking our way through. But, oh the views! There are some really steep sections so agility is a must.

Not moderate difficulty! Neat hike. Some good tough climbs. Pretty views. Little over grown in places. Wear pants! Bring a lot of water.

A lot of junctions and side trails, easy to get lost which is what we did. Cell ph signal spotty and I have Verizon. we tried to go clockwise. Once we crossed the 1st stream, we climbed up a steep hill and should have continued climbing. instead we went left to a tower which was wrong. we ended up going too far west down into a valley. We tried taking several other trails east to connect up to the actual trail but they all seemed to dead end. Believe me, there are tons of side trails all marked with various ribbons. Confusing. So we hiked all the way out which was super steep. Half our group continued on finishing the loop in 4.25 hours and 7.19 miles. There are amazing views and variety of terrain.

A friend and I did this trail yesterday. We are in good shape, and it was a workout for us both. I highly recommend downloading the map if you plan to do this one. It was a lifesaver here. We ended up doing over 8 miles because I didn’t think I needed the nap on the first part of the hike. There are lots of trails in this region, so important to make sure you are on the right one. At the last dry riverbed crossing there are no less than 4 different trails and we ended up trail blazing back to the car, but the map took us in the right direction. It looks like they are working on this trail, but currently there are multiple hands and knees scramble portions where you are digging into bug infested dirt and crumbling rocks to pull yourself up, and you’ll be sliding down on your rear at times too. We went counter clockwise. You’ll need bug spray, lots of water, food, sunscreen and long pants because the overgrown portions tear at your legs. The views are quite nice, but just not one of my favorites.

Great hike for a workout. I'd highly suggest going clockwise as that lets you end with a nice solid wide trail on the way home. There is a lot of steep ups and steep downs along this trail and I;d recommend spikes if its been raining recently. Also there are a few areas with minimal shade so sunscreen wouldn't be a bad idea. I gave it a three as there really isn't a huge payoff that you couldn't find easier by just walking the manana ridge trail. Bonus is that while manana ridge is very popular this one is less known and you'll probably have the trail to yourself.
