At the beginning, the ahead stage is quite tame. From Wiedener Eck paths sometimes lead, then again forest roads through the northern slope of the Dietschel, until under the Heidstein the course turns to the south. Continuing pretty much at a height, the extremely steep mountain slopes on Heidstein are crossed over to the Krinne. With the Belchen, the crown prince of the Black Forest mountains now builds up in front of you. A steep and stony path climbs up through the Rübgartenwald. The serpentines tighten ever more narrowly in the steadily steeper terrain until the broad summit summit (1,414 m) is reached. Just below it lures the time-honored Belchenhaus, which since 1898 is the highest inn in Baden-Wuerttemberg. What a show! From the summit cross, the view reaches almost all the important peaks of the Black Forest, across the faint Rhine valley to the high Vosges and up to the shimmering ice giants of the Alps. Simply terrific! If there were not still the long distance to Kandern, one could stay forever. Through a unique sub-alpine landscape with rich flora and fauna, it descends to the edge of the "south wall" of the Belchen, which builds around 700 meters above the quaint village of Neuenweg.Next destination is the Hohe Kelch-saddle It becomes steep again when the narrow path winds around the Weiherfelsen, then again pleasantly flat to cross the crossroads parking lot, followed by a restful piece on lonely and quiet forest trails to Müllheimer Egerten, where the final spurt over the blue (1,165 m) begins. Once again 200 meters difference in height have to be overcome until the last high Black Forest mountain is conquered. From now on it's just downhill! The route over the mystical Hexenplatz and the castle ruin Sausenburg is so entertaining that Kandern is reached faster than expected.
