If going clockwise expect to pay 4000 COP at the beginning. It’s a gradual climb up a road/trail that brings you to a small home where you can have a coffee (2000 COP) and take a break. Highest altitude is at this point. From there it’s a steep narrow trail down. Most of the trail has rocks and mud. There are some great sights to see along the way before getting to the finish. Lots of open mountainous fields. Near the end you must pay 3000 COP as this is another private property. Great lighting as the sun rises.

Loved it! Very hard through the mountain because it was raining but if you like a good challenge this is it! Signs are available if you decide to take a shortcut but I strongly recommend to go to the top and see the colibris take some hot chocolate, sugar cane or coffee drink. Use the bathroom take some pics and continue. On the way back you will be able to have the most amazing and breathtaking view. This is my favorite place in the world. There is no place like this where the tallest palmtrees grow in mountains.

Great walk, track is a little muddy in some parts but nothing serious. Good tramping boots or trail shoes would be recommended. We turned right at the blue gate at the main entrance and completed the trail anti - clockwise.

A must trail to do when in Colombia.

Our family with 2 girls (ages 9 & 11) completed the loop starting at the blue gate, counterclockwise in 6 hours. Some parts of the trail require intuition to assume you are on the right route, but we never strayed incorrectly. One member of our party was peeved by the detour to the Acaime Bird Reserve. It is definitely skippable if you have seen a few hummingbirds elsewhere. Views are beautiful even on a cloudy day.

Started the climb at 7am and highly recommend doing the clockwise trail. Great lighting as the sun rises.

Nice hiking through the forest. A bit hard approaching the highest point due to altitude
