Very good hike. More challenging in winter due to muddy inclines and some steep hills. There's parking on the right side as you reach the end of the road. The quickest way to the falls is from the right side (blue blazes), a longer route begins to the west (white blazes). Path is narrow and hilly, and requires some work (it's not a casual stroll). Well marked with blazes. Great forested areas with some views of the river before crossing Mystery Creek, and diverting south to the falls (if started by west entrance. The falls themselves are quite nice, highly recommended. At the time, one bridge was out, requiring climbing up a 1 meter muddy bank.

Just did the first part of the loop up to Mystery Falls. A bit muddy but with boots and a walking stick we were perfect! The falls were frozen and very pretty! The trek down to the falls was a bit precarious but not too bad.

This trail network is in the Ausable River Valley. Spring and fall is going to be wet and muddy for any portion of the trail close to the river. The white blazed trail north of Mystery Falls is officially CLOSED and has not been kept up (blazes, trimming, signs) until all the dead trees have been cut down. 150+ dead trees were brought down in the fall of 2019 and it is expected that some portions of this trail will be officially opened up in 2020 with fresh blazes, trimmed and navigation signs. We are always looking for volunteers to help. www.LSNTBlazers.com

Loved this trail, but need to return after a heavy rain or during snowmelt. Very little water.

Trail was too overgrown to continue along the river. Had to turn back and take the falls trail. Good for hiking, not fur running

I would do this trail again with my kids. Very pretty and relaxing. FYI - Use Elm Tree Dr for entrance. There is a small parking lot there.

Definitely a cool spot to hike. The only thing holding it back from being 5 stars is that there are sections that are poorly maintained and poorly marked. it is pretty easy to lose the trail in a few spots. the first section to Mystery Falls is short, and easy. The second portion is the challenging part but it is worthwhile for someone looking for a semi challenging day hike, beautiful scenery and lots of wild raspberries to forage. Pants are a must for the second portion and a GPS or compass and map is a very good idea. I will be back.

Beauty river, beauty falls, very difficult to keep to the online trail due to lack of upkeep and --mysterious-- trail markers that do not match. Decided to bushwhack by accident around the "M" shaped zig-zag and crossed the small stream closer to the main river... discovered a small patch of giant hogweed. Watch yourself!! Long pants and machete reccomended, worthwhile and definitely a good adventure! :D

Wow! This trail is...something alright. If you stick to the ATV trail you'll be fine(mostly, few washed out spots) but MANY of the side trails are VERY poorly marked and VERY overgrown. Especially the trail along the rivers edge. Got lost/turned around multiple times. Pants are a must! Also a map and a good compass (get turned around very easily)....maybe a machete too at some parts. Bring your sense of adventure and plenty of water, wouldn't advise using the river (hella muddy)

Again another great hike along the river. A large doe crossed the path right in front of me. I’m not sure who was more startled me or the doe

Awesome hike today completing the mystery falls loop with my grandson. Slippery and muddy in spots but this only made the hike more adventurous.

Blazes need to be updated. Not well marked. There was a section I couldn't even find.

Great hike! We just did the south loop portion but experienced lots of different scenery. Will return in a different season for another look.
