The stairs at the beginning are brutal (as always) but the trail that hugs the mountainside, where the macaques are, is almost completely flat. If you’re up for it, hike the loop down to the waterfall!

Nice views and clear trail, but many people.

Often hike this trail. Nice view and easy walk. The rock formation is interesting. However, there are too many people, all focused on taking selfies. At the top people are usually loud and rude.

Well paved, great views. Lots of families and older people on the trail, it's a nice way to spend an hour or two and not too difficult.

I did the loop counter-clockwise, which made coming down pretty difficult (but not impossible!) I also saw almost no one on the first half of the loop, so next time I might go up and back that way. The clockwise way up has very little shade starting about halfway up, so stay hydrated!

Amazing trail. Every bit is paved throughout and great views for Taipei Basin at different peaks. The elevation is higher than AllTrails recorded. My Apple Watch recorded 1,550ft

All stairs. Plenty of places to fill a water bottle. loghts along the trail at night. Very accessible

Well paved, lit at night with amazing views. A simple hike to welcome you to Taipei with a night market close by after your trekking!

This is a cool route. I'm pretty sure my GPS followed the Red Route. I will just note that there were some good rope climbs that I find fun and prefer the adventurous less traveled routes, but just FYI you may want to think twice about bringing kids or for less fit people. The route down was complete opposite, crowded w/ tourists and paved.

A very lush and shady trail, with fantastic views of the city from a plethora of lookout points. we went on Dec 9 2019 and did not experience any mosquitoes. This trail is essentially 100% stairs constructed of stone, and thus if it is dry out, any pair of tennis shoes or sandals will work (we even saw a local do this trail in dress shoesthe .... not that if recommended that). The stairs are quite steep in many sections, and the hike provides an excellent workout. And if a lower body workout isn't enough for you, you'll find a stop or two along the way with outdoor gym stations for pullups and bench presses. Tip: there is a tiny storefront near the entrance selling waters for only20$NT each, so have some cash with you if you want to purchase.

Easy trail with high ROI - pretty spectacular views of the city and Taipei 101. Try to avoid weekends or peak hours as the crowds can get quite trying.

It’s a awesome trail, you can see wonderful view but you need a good boots it is always muddy not easy to walk.

A short climb to the top with worthwhile views over the city. It was way too crowded when we went though (for sunset). What should be a 20 minute climb took far longer due to the queues up each of the stairs. Would be better at sunrise perhaps.

Very rewarding, very steep hike. There are some boulders at the top top that you can easily scramble onto for some photo opportunities, but be warned, it can get very crowded and lines form for the best photo spots. There is also a small gym with a few weights, pull up bars and dip bars at the top.

Well maintained suburb trail crossing Nangang Mountain through the ridge. We took the exit to China University of Science and Technology (中華科大) for some extra miles and reduced slope during descending. Lots of shades and resting spots. Several public restrooms on the way.

A quick little hike up steps for breathtaking views of Taipei. Approximately 20 minutes to the top, but you will work up a sweat!

Easy stairs. Busy. Great view.

The view is amazing. But careful when you get to Tigermountain. The trail is covered in bushes and it requires serious climbing. It is also not well maintained, with robes missing. Not recommended in particular after rain.
