This is a tough hike with no water and some scrambles that approach a 30° grade. Be prepared, but feel comfortable that there are sufficient hikers on the trail.

Great hike with an amazing view of the entire city of Seoul. The Koreans did a great job to make the hike easily accessible by everyone. I took the more difficult route up and I found it moderate difficulty at most even with the ice and snow. My fitness level is maybe a bit above average. With snow conditions, crampons are optional if you are older. Otherwise a pair of good hikers is sufficient. If you visit Seoul this is definitely a must do!

Great hike. However, expect to rock climb a bit at the top so wear shoes with proper grip. I had my running shoes which was a bit dangerous as I kept slipping on the rocks.

Beautiful views and the colors were outstanding. Because we caught it during the fall color change it was very crowded. Everyone was polite and it gave us a chance to break on the hike up. Views were amazing.

Wow this was the hardest trail i ever hiked in my life! I did 1/4th of the trail listed here and logged 10.5 miles and 253 steps climbed. It would be hard for me to believe that the whole trail is only 16 miles. Trying to make a circle the map isnt as accurate it said 1 km to end the trail and it was more like 3. So beware about time and make sure you give yourself enough time. It took me 5 hours. It was all stairs up and down. It was the nicest most well kept trail ive been to. Honestly the views are incredible. this might be my fav lifetime hike so far. Theres tons of toilets but no water so make sure to bring a lot, I ran out during my hike about half way through. Highly recommend it!!!!

Amazing trail. Long and hard, but SO worth it when you get to the top. We went up and back, and it took about 3 hours.

To much steps, about technical is easy if you feel comfortable in the mountains.

The UI line takes you to the east side of the mountain. It you want to start on the west side take line 3 until Gupabal station and take exit 1. Make u turn to bus stop and get on the 704 or 34 bus until Bukhansanseong Ipgu (12-233). Then walk to hike. The hike was challenging. The start of the hike was beautiful with the river, mini rapids and water. The view at the top is good if it isn’t wash out. Make sure to bring plenty of water.

I hiked this in June 2018 (Summer) with little/no experience in hiking. Awesome trip up the mountain with stairs all along the route until the summit walk, which is via cable fence. Can either return via the same route or an alternate way to the nearest train station. The views are the best you can get in Seoul and I would recommend this to anyone who is there for more than 4 days. It's absolutely stunning! During summer I would recommend bringing lots of water and some snacks to combat the high temperature and humidity. Additionally some elementary fitness is recommended as although there's no scrambling, there's a lot of steep stairs. There's not many restrooms on the route so make sure you go beforehand!

First hiking experience. The reason i fell in love with mountains!

Definitely a hard hike. Very nice view of the entire city on the top of the peak.

Great hike but pretty strenuous and steep. We took the subway to the last station on the UI line. We hiked from there to Baekundae peak. There was a small store with picnic tables that we stopped at for lunch. The hike to the top is on bare rock with cables to help you along. We hiked down a different way which was more in the forest and followed a river to the bottom. This park reminded me of Yosemite National Park in the US with its huge rock formations, trees, and rivers. I would definitely do this again. Probably not a great hike for young kids or those who are not in shape.

My wife and I had a great time, even it is a rocky and tough mountain to climb. The summit, Shinsundae, has a great view and there are several other summits near by. You can find many different hiking routes and they are all good. One thing I don't like was air quaility, which gives a limited air view. Except that, it was very good and tough hiking. We would like to do it again with a different route.

not sure what the "dobangson peak" review is about. to my knowledge, the trail outlined on this map is the one going to jaunbong which is dobangson peak. any how, as is mentioned on other reviews this is HEAVILY trafficked. with a city of 10 million people and this well maintained trail with beautiful views i guess its no suprise. last 0.5 km is very vertical. but there are convenient rails and steps placed strategically to make this section very managable. its is crazy windy at the peak so hold on to your hat!
