The trail itself was okay. Lots of options to take different routes. I’d imagine the scenery at the top is beautiful but when I got to the top clouds rolled in and visibility was quite poor. The forecast was clear but poor weather made for a shortened hike. Would love to do it again on a better day!

Long walk to the base, stunning views at the top of the ridge

Heads up, £3 parking and the car park isn’t that big. Not hard trail to cover, walked round anti clockwise. Parts of the first section are quite rocky and can be unstable to walk on. However once past that, it opens up into nice wide paths that are easy to walk on. Suitable for all ages and the scenery is beautiful. Could see this trail becoming a family favourite. Lots of other paths to go down if you wish to make the walk longer. There are others trails next to the car park but haven’t tried them yet.

Clachnaben is a great walk, windy and cold ascending after the woods, groundsmen currently fixing the path in certain areas, no ice or snow(20/11/19)

Great route. we started at the carpark and headed north first coming back around the lock to finish. we started just after mid day and made it to the very top just around sun set. we came down in the dark. the path was very easy to follow and not to bad conditions. We hiked this middle of October.

Well laid gravel road. Level and suitable for bikes. We turned back due to weather on this occasion.

Great walk for young children and adult. There activities planned for the children like searching for fairy doors on tree stump and follies to explore. Good paths but can be very muddy.

Excellent trail, well maintained paths and stunning dune landscape. Area is a reserve for grey seals however it is luck if you find them on the beach, you have keep your eyes open whilst walking along the estuary where they feed, heads bobbing up every few minutes

Great trail but be prepared for lots of step climbs in and out of castle. we started our trail from the harbour car park (free). Car park at trail start is only 3 or 4 cars. If you want to go into castle there is a fee, but it is worthwhile

This is a nice walk if you don't feel like hiking hiking. Lots of green, a beautiful river, and a 7th century monestery.

Essentially walking adjacent to fields. A relatively easy walk on the edge of Tarland. Stone circle perched on Crest of a small hill - not as good as the one at Daviot but worth a visit.

Great walk up, cloudy and misty all the way but great fun none the less.

Dress for wind. Amazing view on clear day. Well marked trails in September.

The trail from the car park is a 4WD ACCESS ROAD so easy to follow. Fork left or right depending on the side of the loch u want to visit. Jocks Road goes Left. Jocks Road changes as it reaches the Loch to a single track that runs the side of Loch Callater then up and over to Glenn Dolll. If you are planning the full route then know how to read a map use a compass or follow GPS as easy to get lost on the upper plateau after you scramble Up the grassy hillside. The single track path is not easy to see.

Amazing loop. I got it done in 3 hours while running on flat/decline and slow to mid pace hiking on the inclines.

Lovely walk along the coast with beautiful views of the surrounding cliffs and castle ruins.

Well kept trail, with nice views of the surrounding mountains and fields. Nice walk through Drummy Wood as well. The town square has an information point with maps of other nearby trails and brochures about the historical sites you'll see along the way.
