Just back from this walk I did solo this morning, parked in the old quarry and followed the trail signs. A good mixture of hills and woods, open flat areas too. The final tracks to the top are narrow and rocky but all in a very good walk and the scenery is fantastic. Approximately 1.5 hours up and just over an hour to get down. Will definitely be back....

Long walk to the base, stunning views at the top of the ridge

Heads up, £3 parking and the car park isn’t that big. Not hard trail to cover, walked round anti clockwise. Parts of the first section are quite rocky and can be unstable to walk on. However once past that, it opens up into nice wide paths that are easy to walk on. Suitable for all ages and the scenery is beautiful. Could see this trail becoming a family favourite. Lots of other paths to go down if you wish to make the walk longer. There are others trails next to the car park but haven’t tried them yet.

very straight forward hike from Braemar. head towards signs for the golf course then head left across a foot bridge signposted queen's road. the path leads to the A93 and continues across it to the right. a clear path then ascends up through a beautiful wood before returning back to Braemar. this is a fairly easy walk to do and recommended.

Good little walk for the dog, can go on other trails depending on how long or short you would like to walk. You can climb the tower monument at the top. Also Paid parking.

Nice walk for the dog, the area for parking does have signs(barely visible) that’s states “no parking” however didn’t seem to stop anyone.

Clachnaben is a great walk, windy and cold ascending after the woods, groundsmen currently fixing the path in certain areas, no ice or snow(20/11/19)

Great route. we started at the carpark and headed north first coming back around the lock to finish. we started just after mid day and made it to the very top just around sun set. we came down in the dark. the path was very easy to follow and not to bad conditions. We hiked this middle of October.

Well laid gravel road. Level and suitable for bikes. We turned back due to weather on this occasion.

Great walk for young children and adult. There activities planned for the children like searching for fairy doors on tree stump and follies to explore. Good paths but can be very muddy.

Excellent trail, well maintained paths and stunning dune landscape. Area is a reserve for grey seals however it is luck if you find them on the beach, you have keep your eyes open whilst walking along the estuary where they feed, heads bobbing up every few minutes

Easy walk following a well made path almost straight out and back route. A restaurant is located at the turning point for refreshments is most useful. You can get close to river in some place but could be flooded in winter.

Great trail but be prepared for lots of step climbs in and out of castle. we started our trail from the harbour car park (free). Car park at trail start is only 3 or 4 cars. If you want to go into castle there is a fee, but it is worthwhile

This is a nice walk if you don't feel like hiking hiking. Lots of green, a beautiful river, and a 7th century monestery.

Great for dogs, roads are lorry width so plenty of room and you can see far enough ahead. Can have deer in the woods so if you have a deer chaser a long line would be best.

Amazing loop. I got it done in 3 hours while running on flat/decline and slow to mid pace hiking on the inclines.

Lovely walk along the coast with beautiful views of the surrounding cliffs and castle ruins.

Great trails with loads of different routes to the tower. Dog friendly. Easier trails which take slightly longer but you get the benefit of views over deeside and the amazing forests.

The view point has been updated and is well worth the minimal effort

Depending on which way you go can determine how hard it is to get up. Regardless of how you get to the top views are worth it. Paths never too busy which is surprising for where the trail is. One to do at least once. Again depending on which paths you take, footing is mostly ok. Some areas can be a little rocky or muddy.

Absolutely the best hill in Aberdeenshire!

Simple walk on a surface pathway, unless you head towards the river and find some rather rough and overgrown paths. Plenty of cyclists so good for tough buggies and generally wheelchair friendly. Towards Crathes it run alongside the newly restored Desside railway which has a cafe.

An easy stroll around the shore line. Remember this may be closed when the Terns are breeding.

no maps within forest.

Nothing difficult about this path but nice little walk if you don’t have much time or don’t want to go far with your dog. Paths can be a little slippy if it has been raining.
