This is an incredible walk but more like 13km due to path closures. The views are breathtaking and, when the clouds are in, the feeling of walking on top of them is something to experience.

Easy, flat and some nice little “lakes” at the end, but overall very boring walk with no views. Sorry :)

We went on cloudy day, so I can’t tell about the view. It’s better to wear long pants and sleeves.

Watch your head in the tunnels. Except this, easy and nice trail along levada

Loved this trail! The views were breathtaking, around every turn we thought “this couldn’t possibly get any better” and then it DID. The trail is in excellent condition, mostly stone pavers with numerous little huts with seating to rest or in case of a sudden weather change. The end of the trail is the peak of the tallest mountain on the island and you can see the deserted islands, the golden islands and all the rock outcroppings of Madeira. I would do this trail again and again. Make sure you conserve you energy though because the last 0.3km was absolutely the hardest (and I suspect it’s why it’s rated as moderate instead of easy). I wore my 1 year old and held my 4 year olds hand, my 6 and 8 year olds had no problems (adding this detail because I have read on numerous other forums advising NOT to bring children under 7 and that’s just crazy).

This was not the hike I had thought it would be. While the hike was easy, it provided next to no viewpoints and the ones there were all provided a view on the same subject. The waterfall was not worth the trip. If you decide to do this hike, make sure to do the Caldeirao do Inferno. The Inferno trail is much more exciting, it has better views and longer tunnels.

An easy walk for everyone. The trail goes along the levada and it's almost flat with not much elevation gain. Start early to avoid the crowd.

Bonne randonnée à faire en famille. Balade sans aucune difficulté. Les chemins très larges permettent à vos enfants de les emprunter sans avoir aucune crainte. Je recommande.

More moderate than easy. Nice trail! You see the ocean most of the time, hear it, and in some point you follow a river and can even feel the ocean. We enjoyed it! In the end (well, middle, just before returning back) there is a nice restaurant. Not many options for vegetarians like us but still it was a nice break.

Did not try, 27.12.2019 the trail was closed because of landslide, but lots of people walked there.

Absolutely stunning hike. Me and my partner started at 12 and finished at 6pm but we done the extra extension to visit the inferno which was absolutely more than worth it! Would totally recommend this trail is stunning. Its strenuous and the steps up to the inferno are intense, but a really enjoyable hike! Ps. Ignore my recording, power saving mode was on and it obviously didn't work

Commencer par le levadas de Moinho (derrière église) et revenir par la levadas Nova. A la cascade eviter les escaliers qui grimpent en allant chercher le chemin au fond de la rivière.

What a trip! we took this trail in mid-November and it was a real treat. Incredible view after incredible view. Unfortunately it was foggy when we got to the top and it never cleared but the views on the way up were absolutely breathtaking. We did the hike in around 4 hours total (stopped to take in the views and get some pics frequently). Most of the trail is moderate, but pace yourself. You'll need a good bit of energy to finish out. Also, 1,862 meters may not sound like much, but when you live 150 meters above sea level, you notice the lack of oxygen. Great trail, great hike, absolutely would do it again.

Very nice trail, easy for the majority of it (the exception being the final approach to Pico Juliana, with loose rocks on a steep path, almost a climb). Beautiful view of the island, I would recommend this trail to any hiker visiting Porto Santo.

Itinéraire qui permet de faire une boucle avec passage de tunnel. par contre application obligatoire pour trouver les chemins moins touristique s

this hike is epic, one of the best we did on the island. the walk along the coast at high elevation is breathtaking. good option for when the high elevation peak hikes ( ruvio arieiro) have bad weather. I would recommend starting from the opposite side in Porto de cruz and skipping the levada walk section because it's rather average compared to the costal walk

this hike was incredible!! overall long hike mixed with a pretty intense elevation gain made it pretty difficult. the final climb on the way back to pico airieiro was tough. Views are absolutely stunning, best to start on a clear day and get there for sunset. lots of toilet paper and poops along the way.. not sure why so many people had to crap over the 6km stretch between ruvio and airieiro but perhaps too much poncha.

We hiked this trail at sunrise (started at 6:45am), with quite hard conditions: powerful wind and limited visibility due to the clouds. The conditions made it more challenging, but overall moderate trail, with challenging sections as you ascends the “Picos”. We finished the trail (return) in under 4hours and took breaks every now and then, and photos when we could. Waterproof Windbreaker jacket strongly recommended in this conditions. However, don’t get discouraged by by bad weather, it’s still a great trail to do!
