Beautiful track at intermediate level - no part is heavily challenging. At the moment, the track has been rerouted at the start due to washouts, but no biggie and clearly signposted. We did the first few creek crossings in jandals before switching to boots. The whole track was fun and adventurous, so should be fun with children that have some experience, too! At a hearty pace, we made it up in 05h45min and down in 05h15min, including generous breaks for foods, pictures, and change of shoes. If it takes longer than expected to Architect Creek, no worries - it is NOT the halfway point, but more like 2/3! Hit the pools after sunset to avoid sandflies and - pro tip - take a bottle of water into the pool so you can have a warm shower afterwards.

Did the Copland track with my girlfriend Cecylia. Both the trail and her are amazing. I love her (the trail). 5.5 hours on the way there and 6 back. Doable in 5 with no breaks and a faster pace. Hot springs are amazing

This trail was incredible! We went in July 28 and came out July 29. We did get rain overnight and the deepest river crossing (the first one you can see from the parking lot) was ankle-high going in and mid-shin coming out. The trail is beautiful and easy to follow. We saw a Tahr near the Welcome Hut. The hot pools have an amazing view! Five star trail without a doubt!

Impressive vistas, lush moss covering rocks and trees, water falls, streams, rivers and best of all natural hot pools at your destination. An easy going, hyper scenic trail, in my opinion, and one if the best I've walked in the SI, given all you see and get. It's marked as 'hard' but id disagree. It's very consistent and actually rather manicured. The heavy traffic it gets could be why it's so well formed. Even after a week of rain it was firm and dry. The time given is 7 hours for the 20km, but we did it in 5.5 at a pretty mild pace, a very generous lunch stop and much faffing. The bulk of the trail is under forest so will be cold in winter months, have layers at the ready. There are a lot of rivers and streams feeding into the main Copland river, so many bridges to cross along the way. We did the walk after a week of solid westcoast rain and still only had to make 2 'get your legs wet' river crossings. The first is actually at the very beginning in eye shot of the car park. We all strolled through in bare feet and booted up on the other side - handy tip maybe. The Welcome flats hut is pretty good, tidy and spacious. Classic bed mats in the dorms, drinkable water at the taps, generous kitchen space and flushing toilets with toilet paper! A huge attraction is the natural hot pools. They are really incredible, perfect temp with views of the surrounding mountain ranges. Make sure to pop in at night for a perfect view of the milky way, star gazing from hot pools was my highlight, can't beat that.

Great track. A few steep bits. Great day trip

Hard! But then again we were first timers with 4 kids! Lucky we had a seasoned tramper with us. Great hut, hot pool totally worth it. The sign says 7km from the carpark.....

A really good hike but definitely on the difficult side - some rock scrambles and very uneven clambers! Worth it though with beautiful views all the way up, amazing woodlands and creeks / bridges to keep things interesting. Took us 7 and a half hours up and 6 hours down (with breaks for lunch etc). Some very high wire bridges so not a walk for someone scared of heights. Really enjoyed it but pretty tired after!

I felt like this track was hard going but worth it. the views around are amazing. I slept in the hut over night. dont forget your swim wear and a towel as there are natural hot pools out the back which are totally worth a quick dip or s long soak depending how you're feeling.

This was not a hard track. There are historical sites in teh form of the old gold mining equipment. The track is well defined and easy to follow. Near the Knob are two huts for paid over night stays. Currently The track is closed until 1DEC when a new track will be opened crossing over the Croesus Track. I did not continue down the west side to Barrytown.
