Superbe randonnée. 5-6h. Au bout de 10km, vous croiserez un camp site avec des toilettes. Montée assez difficile après. Mais vous le regretterez pas, paysage magnifique

Very nice trail. Gave me quite a challenge! A personally liked the path up to fletchers bay better than the mountain bike trail which was quite up and down.

très belle randonnée, le soleil peut tper un peu fort sur certaines parties du sentier alors prévoir de l'eau et un chapeau

One of the best hikes I ever did in New Zealand. This trail resembles the Coromandel area perfectly! It shows everything: shore, forrest, stones and mountains, bushes, grassland and sheep, small streams and waterfalls, beaches and sand. I would recommend going quite early so that you can rest and enjoy at many places. Take enough water and a hat as there is a few areas without shelter from the trees. I would highly recommend doing the costal hike up (to Fletcher's Bay, 3h) and then the Mountain Bike trail down (2.5h). The last section up the grassy hill is very steep but don't loose hope. This makes it an at least intermediate track where you could use hiking poles. We went in spring and we met about 10 people throughout the whole trip.

Excellent but not easy

I would recommend this loop, much better than just the coastal by the forest.

Good trail recommend when dry as parts of trail can get deep mud puddles

A beautiful easy walk / mountain bike track from Urchin Camp Site to the Pillars of the Earth swing bridge and return the same way.

Perfect trail for a day walk. The view from the top is stunning.

We did the Cookson Kauri Trail, and spent total 3 and half hours. We are family of four, the kids are age 8 and 10. We found this trail was fun. We took lots of stopovers. The first half is along a river and second half has lots of steps. We recommend to trail to everyone.

We did the 6km Cookson Kauri hike. The track has been recently gravelled and was dry and made for good walking conditions There are A LOT of steps on this trail over 260 m elevation gain. Steps are all gravel and wooden frames. It’s a good track. Moderate to Hard difficulty. Took 85 minutes out and back.

We decided to do the Hihi summit climb which was NOT for moderate hikers... the terrain and the overgrowth of plants made the climb and descent a mental challenge. 4.5hours to the summit is a bit of a stretch unless they meant “return”. Definitely would warn those who do not frequently hike to skip this one and just stick to the Broken Hills Koop track which was thoroughly enjoyable.

Great walk. Took a good few hours with the kids.

There’s a scary ass 500m mine you have to walk through! But it’s a beautiful hike, made me think of Alice in Wonderland.

The North Road end of the of the track is in good condition and relatively easy to follow. The Ohinewai Rd end of the track has become seriously overgrown with numerous tree falls, and obscured track markers. That end of the track doesn't appear to be maintained and looked little used. We frequently lost the the track and had to use GPS Topomap apps to refind it. The recommended time for the track is 8 hours but we are a fairly fit bunch and normally do it in 6 hours. This time it took us over 8 hours. We've advised DOC Waikato of what we found, and don't intend to do this route again until we get confirmation that it is safer to use.
