This trail is a lot of fun! However have to get lucky with the weather, has been extremely misty and quite windy the further you ascend.

This Great Walk is very impressive. Although very busy (most popular walk in NZ) the walk is very easy and appropriate for all ages and fitness levels.

Brilliant Great Walk and a very easy, slow 4/5 days. It is well maintained, plus the huts and camping are all clean and well managed. Each day the scenery is different, alpine, rocky terrain, jungle and coast!

This is a decent short walk. Epic views from the summit. It is a pretty steep track but good for the fit and keen. We did the loop in just over two hours but tend to move faster than most trampers. I'd recommend it to anyone that wants a shorter walk but with excellent views and a bit of leg burn.

https://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/nelson-tasman/places/kahurangi-national-park/things-to-do/tracks/mount-arthur-summit/ Super windy when we went, but the views were fantastic. Lots of tracks in the area. Road to the car park was an adventure.

Pretty easy multi-day walk with some of the most spectacular beaches you’ll ever see. The variety of colors throughout the sand, water, and forest was just mind-blowing. The only downside about the walk is that you’ll see many private baches and day trippers which gives less of the “away from society” feeling that other great walks would. However, I still think the views make this walk well worth it.

Hiked one leg of this walk from Marahau to Anchorage Bay. Night before, we stayed the night at Barn Backpackers (highly recommend!), which is literally right on the trailhead. Got an early start at around 6:30 am and hiked at a fairly quick pace. The trail is extremely well marked and maintained and great for all levels. Took the detour to Cleopatra’s Pools, which was beautiful but too cold this time of year for a swim. Arrived at Anchorage Bay at about 11:15 am and took a water taxi at 11:45 am back to Marahau. Be sure to make a reservation with a water taxi company in advance. A beautiful day of hiking with gorgeous coastal views. Can’t wait to come back and do the entire walk, but love that the water taxis allow for doing this Great Walk in bits and pieces.

Great hike with a well maintained track by DoC, challenging on the way up and fairly steady on the way down. Hiked early September with snow still present and had to stop the hike probably 250m from the peak due to not having the correct footwear and the risk of falling being too high. Very enjoyable hike overall would 100% go again!

A great, family friendly trail that is well maintained. Despite the huts being full each night, we rarely saw others along the trail. Lots of picturesque views which make great photos. Be sure to also take the opportunity to go slightly off-trail and explore the beautiful, deserted, tiny beaches along the way - these are sign-posted from the main trail - the sand, shells & rock formations are unlike those found elsewhere in N.Z. The huts are very warm - we were there mid winter & the log burners were very effective. If we were to do it again, I'd pack a small traveller's pegless clothesline (all 28 people staying at the Anchorage & Bark Bay huts needing to dry wet clothes exceeded the amount of available space on the airer hanging above the log burner) & some light jandals for quickly ducking out of the huts to the bathrooms without having to pull boots on again.

amazing ride a lot of wash outs specially on the heaphy side of track. was a hard ride with amazing views am pleased to have rode it but won't do it again. I have walked this track and prefers the walk to biking it. loved hearing the birds and seeing the kakapo and Kia. we also seen a seal. was freezing but beautiful

easy trail and nice view point

Did this great walk in September 2017 and it was unreal! Highly recommend

We completed a day trip starting at Bark Bay and ending at Awaroa - we used a water taxi to get to and from these beaches back to our base at Kaiteriteri. Took us a little under four hours to complete. The views on this section of the track were wonderful - a lot of time was spent either walking on beaches or catching glimpses of them through the bush. I would personally rate this section of the walk moderate difficulty at best. There were occasional steep moments after leaving Bark Bay heading north, but these were very short lived. Most of the time, the track was flat with very gentle inclines or declines. I'd imagine this section would be suitable for families and people with moderate to low-moderate fitness levels - even with a backpacking pack, this part of the walk would be very doable. There's a cafe at the end (Awaroa) during the summer for those who would be in the hike for a reward beer or bite to eat. Compared to the other bays we visited (Bark Bay and Onetahuti), Awaroa was the most crowded due to the presence of the lodge and cafe - something to keep in mind for people who prefer to avoid crowds as much as possible.

walked from midlands beach to awaroa lodge..3.5 hours walking..about 9.1 km..was great view and wonderful day , overcast and no sandfly..Lodge is great .had bags come up on water taxi..waiting in the room..looking forward to dinner and drinks in the restaurant..

very easy and nice track! One of my favourite walks in New Zealand. There are so many different kinds of landscape and stunning views. If I could I would do it again in the winter season. it's definitely worth to take your time on the trip there are so many side trips and things to see. at the Gouland Downs you can even see whios (blueducks).
