Super fun and challenging hike. They say the trail is “closed” and it has been marked this way for years....note that the trails is still easily accessible and open. Just keep going. There a couple trees to hop over and some bridges with boards missing that you can easily scramble across. The entire hike is accessible and fun. There are little shops on the beach to get refreshments part way through, too!

Awesome hike here. Moderately difficult, feels like you are either going up or down with very little “flat” hiking. That said, it’s really a fun hike with great trail conditions. The trail is open and the beach is really beautiful. If you go about 300m up the beach there is an cool little turtle sanctuary to check out.

Zero maintenance on this otherwise great trail and facilities. What a shame Perhilitan. Get out of your hammocks and grab a chainsaw

Easy hiking

WARNING: the trail to monkey beach is still, even after 2 years, only accessible till the USM research station. Monkey beach itself is accessible, vendors are present (at least in weekends), and you can swim at this beach. From the boat, the garbage wasn’t evident on the beach/waterline. Looked clean (might be different around the vendor’s stalls). We opted to start at the entrance, hike to Kerachut, took a boat to drop us off at USM, and hiked back to the entrance. This trail is very easy but isn’t that nice as Kerachut. Partial views on the ocean, lots of stairs going a bit up and down again.

Fairly easy hike if weather is dry. Nice and quiet environment. Less crowded on weekdays. The route is a combination of concrete steps and packed earth or mud (dry or wet weather). The concrete is in many places washed out by previous rainfall. At the end of the trail, at Turtle Beach, you can visit the turtle hatchery for free. Opt to continue walking to Teluk Kampi or cross the beach and loop back towards the same trail. Or you can take a speedboat at the pier to Monkey Beach / USM research station / park entrance (fee 40-50 MYR pp, to be requested/negotiated before starting, no cell phone coverage at Kerachut Beach).

did it on Depavali day. dam overflow after a night . Cloudy started 8.30am reach Penang Hill 4.30pm Raining at Penang Hill.

Can walk to a clean beach.

This trail is badly in need of some maintenance as there are numerous trees blocking the path which can make it quite tricky to get on the right track. The trail is extremely steep in places which makes it quite treacherous especially when descending

Very exciting and challenging trail but it's important to bring 2 hiking sticks as the trail is full of leaves and less grip even you are wearing hiking shoes. Esp when coming down hill. Some parts of the trail is very bushy so, its recommended to bring a parang along as you can clear some of the broken branches which blocks the trail.

This was an ok trail but incredibly busy (we went on a Saturday), probably also not helped by the monkey beach trail being closed. The walk itself is clear and easy to follow with quite a few uphill sections. We would have enjoyed this more had it been less busy. The beach at the end was lovely and we chose to take a boat back from here rather than walk back through the park.

The trail is challenging in particular going further to Teluk Campi Beach. It is another steep climb and even steeper descent to the beach. We opted taking a boat back (can be arranged when getting to the beach). Expect to pay around 120RM one way from Teluk Campi

Great trail, quite hard, especially the long climb up to Laksamana. Steep down after the summit but the rest is moderate. Not recommended in the rainy season as the start goes via the Crossing at the Batu Ferringhi dam and when the dam overflows it's dangerous to cross

Partir très tôt. Assez boueux mais bien balisé.

Fantastic long distance and tougher hiking trail to conquer ! Bravo to myself to complete the mission.

The best trail...for family activity.

Sometimes steep hike through dry forest. We much preferred Botanic Garden. Can take boat back, $40USD, should book at entry. Beach is pleasant, turtle sanctuary worth a look

Beautiful loop walk through the Botanic Garden. Dramatic Penang Hills in the background, many enormous old trees. Busy on weekends, best in the cool mornings.

It was a great hike and and can choose to take a boat back to the starting point instead of hike back as there will be some uphill in the beginning but after that it will be good.

easy trail which follows the coastline to monkey beach, then it's a 20 steap walk up steps to the lighthouse. allow 3 hours for a return trip

the leg of the trail just by the lily pond is very difficult. otherwise a great loop

Worth a look if you're in the area .. casual stroll through the garden and some small climbs through the forest.
