very easy short loop in maccagno.

Great trail, mostly cobblestone until the last scramble to first summit. The recorded trail ends shortly thereafter, but if you have time you can push to the next for more spectacular views of Lake Como. Lots of mountain bikers, so be aware, but no issues. Great way to get in the mountains without driving too far. The drive up to the trailhead is narrow and could be challenging. Another option would be to take the funicular up, but that would add some more steep climbing.

We did this trail late in the afternoon, thankfully it is a mostly shaded path. We took the side trip off to see the “Cava”, which was short, easy, and worth the extra time to see the small library and historical info. Someone has done a very good job of putting that area together and keeping it all well maintained. We also side tracked through the Cardona Line, walking through the trenches and poking our heads into some of the bunkers. We started near the church at the bottom, and it was pretty much an unrelenting uphill. Though the distance isn’t terribly far, it will work your buns! Be careful in the descent, as the trail was littered with fallen chestnuts, making for a slick surface.

Short steep with huge rewards. You can start at various places if you have a map of the local trails but the car park at Alpe del Vicerè is a good place. The first mile or so is tough with little reward... but wait for it! You will be delighted eventually with 360 degree views from the top - do both peaks they are very close to each other.

Incredible low level walk with world Class scenery. Starting with cute Italian streets you progress to some awe inspiring views of lake Como. Lots of history along the way and every step offers an Instagram friendly shot..

Paved or cobblestones almost all the way except the last steel bit to the top. Very beautiful and hardly anyone on the trail when we went.

Beautiful but crowded trail, wonderful houses and villas on the other side of the canal. All paved until Adda river in Cassano, then unpaved along the river. Recommended!

Get there: Drive to Chiesa San Gregorio in Breglia and you will see parking lot next to it. Free parking (as of Sept 2019). The hike: Simple hike on gravel road/path starting on the east side of the parking lot (you can't miss it). Follow the path around the small hill for some nice views and picture opportunities of Lago Como. Total walk 30-40 mins. About 1hr incl. pictures. Running shoes are more than sufficient. No other gear needed except for maybe 1/2 litre of water. Hike should be rated "Easy" not "Moderate"

Too bad the view is blocked by all the electricity masts and cables

Small round trip around Bellano - partly on the ancient Roman Sentiero del Viandante. Some nice views on the Lake Como and passing beautiful churches. Last part takes you in the Lake village Bellano.

Although this hike is in the mountains just above the popular and crowded tourist destination of Lake Como, you’ll find yourself quickly in a really remote place going up this valley. That’s where the charm is. Few places in the Alps have this remoteness. I started the hike from Livo, which adds another 3km (flat) each way. Either way, the hike to Capanna Como on the lake Lago di Darengo is long. Chances are you’ll find some porcini mushrooms on the way. The hut is not open to the public unless you procure first the key at the town of Gravedona. But once you do that, you’re in for a treat: sleep there, and cook on the wood stove, and have a wonderful mountain experience. Don’t forget to bring wine and beer. You can cool these down in the icy lake waters.

A lot of stairs to get to the top, but beautiful views abound. A well-maintained stone and dirt path. A lot of climbing, but easy to walk. The walk back to Bellano is along the road/shoulder that runs along the edge of the lake. And gelato shops in Bellano as a reward::)

WWI historical site: Cadorna defensive line

Well, I finished part 2 today. My Garmin watch says 9.24 miles from Liena to Varenna. It was a steep climb, some of it mountain goat worthy. It has some fantastic views along the way with rest areas, a small church and a couple of crosses. 5 hours 15 minutes.

This is a nice trail with an amazing view point, however would say it’s easy rather than moderate. Ideal for a dog walk or a family walk with slightly older children.

Short walk and a nice place for picnics, with amazing view .

A great way to get to know some of the villages on Lake Como. I would consider this trail to be less of a hike and more of a long, scenic walk (with some hills, of course)! We stopped by Villa del Balbianello, as it is not far from the path.

Ran on the Greenway path two mornings in a row from our Air bnb in Ossuccio on Lake Como. The path is fantastic and well marked by signs in many places. Most of the path is flat along the lake shore but part of it goes up above the lake into the foothill neighborhoods by a big church and then back down to the lake shore. Beautiful views the whole way, lots of birds, and you pass through one cool small village after another on the lake from start to finish. Wubba lubba dub dub!

Short walk from the stunning views at the top of the Pigra cablecar is the Belvedere lookout. Easy walk through town then through some woods to a bench and picnic table at the lookout.
