Lovely view of the lake as part of the longer loop

Lovely walk with great views along the entire route

Pretty easy forest trail on gravel paths the entire way. No direction marking but with the route saved on this app it was easy. Great views back towards the sea and up the numerous peaks.

Beautiful little hike

This trail was awesome, even in the pouring rain. Granted the view from the top was covered by fog, but the hike was enjoyable and the way up was beautiful. Definitely gets windy at the top and would highly recommend waterproof shoes when doing this hike.

This was a challenging climb but very rewarding.. we lost the trail on the last leg up toward the summit but found it again with the help of another climber.. could do with more arrows as you go higher.. but great climb well worth it

excellente randonnée ! par contre il faut avoir vraiment de l'équipement pour les tourbières et la descentes. on a eu le droit a de la neige au plus haut !

So gorgeously amazzzin! One of the best hikes I’ve ever been on in the world.

We heard this hike was muddy and mostly through roads - not too appealing - so we hitchhiked and skipped this day of the Kerry Way.

The view at the top and on the way was incredible. It was incredibly windy the day we did it which made it difficult. The trail on the back side near the lake is non existent so you have to bushwack through a lot of overgrown vegetation. This was made worse by the very very soggy and boggy condition of the whole mountain. I'd do it again but recommend going back down the way you come up and skipping the back side.

The loop around Muckross Lake can be done almost flat if instead of climbing the mountain in the south side of the lake you keep close to the lake shore and the Ring of Kerry road. You can complete the loop in under 3 hours. We combined this loop with an earlier climb on the Torc Mountain trail.

Just 10 minutes from Killarney, very convenient short hike that can be combined with the loop around Muckross Lake. Early morning left the car in the parking lot and headed on a paved road for about a mile and then a narrow trail up the mountain. Out and back from the parking lot in about 2 hours. Then headed by car to the Meeting of the Waters where you can park and there is a very nice lodge by the lake shore where you can have a snack. Hike around the lake took us another 2 and a half hours with a stop at the Torc Falls. We were back in Killarney before 2 pm.

One of the amazing sights was Minard Castle ruins, partially destroyed and structurally damaged by Cromwell's army in 1650. A wonderful hike.

Such a beautiful experience to hike this trail. Even the torrential rain through part of the journey and steady rain through other parts were offset by clearing skies and sunshine. Experienced most weather conditions this day. Nothing could take away from the spectacular views and vistas. A truly wonderful hike. Trail markers were good (but as always you need to pay attention). Very few and far apart, but there to signal turns or change in direction when choices appear. Well worth the journey.

Expected muddy sections and definitely found them, rained for several hours. Many muddy sections are also cow and sheep runs so you are walking through what cows leave behind. Gaiters are a must for some sections. Spectacular views of coastal regions; dry stone construction fences around sheep and cow pastures that are hundreds of years old. A truly great experience. Walking amongst sheep in their natural hill-side habitat is a joy to experience. Definitely deserves a return trip in the 'non-rainy season'.

This was a fun hike and we took the alternate coastal route. Great paths and views. However, more road walking than I’d like.

Absolutely gorgeous views all around on a clear day. Hike in isn’t too bad. Well trafficked with a sturdy rock path and not a lot of slipping rocks or shale when dry-some uneven footing, though. Definitely recommend and will do again in the future. Saw quite a few red deer with babies. The railroad ties helped keep you off the soft and wet ground which was really nice.

Definitely get in early- heavily trafficked to falls then tourists thin out after. Beautiful area.

This is a challenging section of the Kerry Way and about 4 miles longer than the guide book. It’s very muddy and rocky. This route takes you to Blackstone House via the road for the last 4 miles. We skipped the road and too the old Kerry Way though the countryside which ultimately didn’t save us any time. Beautiful views!
