Really nice lookout. It’s easy enough to park in the lower parking lot. There are bathrooms. If you walk, you’ll be able to notice a small trail going by a seeing stone which takes you to an old lookout tower. Or if you’re in a hurry, you can drive through the gate by lifting up to rope holding it in place. There is a small parking lot at the end of the road. It’s possible this lot will run out of space though. Park signs discourage using this path to summit the eagle’s nest further north from this route due to cliff erosion (they recommend the pilgrim’s path instead). In any case, still possible. Mostly road and stone walkway hike. No fee parking lot.

The climb up following the gps trail worked well. There are a few places that were not obvious as to which direction should be taken. Look for green arrows to help you out. I would recommend against taking the loop and instead descend the same way you came up. The descending loop is treacherous especially in wet conditions. You will need good boots with excellent lateral support if you take the descending loop. I fell several times because of the slippery conditions. Good luck, be safe, and have fun.

Closer to easy - a nice stroll along the lake to the castle - a nice view the entire way. Path is gravel and clearly marked. Quite open though with no shade. Opportunity to take the bus back from the castle for €1.50 if you only want to do one way.

We parked at the bottom car park and proceeded past the gate, up the hill. The first part is road with some track detours to take in the fabulous views. Once you reach the top car park, the trail begins. It was wild, wet and windy but still a great hike. We walked past the trail highlighted but not far past. The trail is well maintained and the views are spectacular. These are the highest cliffs in Europe and if you feel good, just keep walking. Highly recommend.

Lovely views and windy most days. Easy for all ages. Did by mountain bike also but a little rough in places. Not in donegal as stated. it's in Kerry.

Was a nice loop trail. The cliff view from the top worth it.

Excellent hike! Amazing views and very satisfying, but there are parts that are not for the faint-hearted--particularly the One Man's Pass portion near the top. You can bypass this by using a slightly longer side trail to the right if you aren't feeling up for this challenge though. Either way, just watch your footing.

Be prepared for a good steady climb to the top. It had rained the night before we climbed and the ground conditions were very wet and slippery under foot. Once onto the hard path it was a case of just keep going. The views from the top are breathtaking. Good footwear is a must.

wonderful trek and amazing views.

The trail is beautiful. The views from the top and throughout the trail are really beautiful. Small warning, the hike goes over quite a few very boggy areas which during heavy rainfall might become seriously waterlogged. Especially problematic is the area where you've climbed 2/3 of the mountain and there's a flat/slight decline which was extremely waterlogged and difficult to cross after some very heavy rain. Overall, a stunning trail of you don't mind crossing a couple of bogs.

beautiful walk, we walked right from carpark to castle (4k) and continued straight on along lake and followed river past waterfall to upper glen (end of path, meets road) for an additional 7km. So 22k in all out and back, and lovely coffee at castle.
