Really gorgeous, turn right from the parking lot instead of left over the glacier to go down to the lake and climb on the ice that’s washed ashore.

Awesome, otherworldly trail. We broke this into four nights and camped in tents. Biggest advice, as will become obvious if you’re planning a trip, would be preparing for unpleasant conditions. Though we hiked in late August, it snowed at the top of the mountain pass and temperatures dropped well below freezing. Warm sleeping bags and clothing are an absolute must. The wind was fierce most of the way, too, often reaching 40 mph, and there is no real coverage from the gusts—especially if you’re camping. Brush up on how to pitch tents in wind gusts before you head out! Other thing I’d recommend is bypassing the campsite at Alftavatn and continuing on to Hvanngil. It was a beautiful site and my favorite stop along the way. Most people continue past it, it seemed. Most sites allowed hikers to hang out in sheltered seating areas to escape the elements. This was perfect for warming up, preparing food, and playing card games. Trails were busy and it is good to get moving early to claim a spot if you’re camping!

I would classify this as moderate rather than easy. there are some minor exposed areas where it's important to keep your balance. also, it is rather strenuous hiking uphill at the incline of this mountain. it wasn't so difficult that a person of decent health shouldn't be able to do it, but still not easy. it was absolutely beautiful and one of my favorite hikes. the bugs in July were really bad. take something to cover your mouth and nose and eyes such as a bandana and sunglasses.

this is an easy trail, not moderate, and the trail map is in direct conflict with markings and signage; we chose to go clockwise round the route, however we had to turn back as the allmaps trail required us to hope over a guide rope. I understand that the mosses are ecologically sensitive and did not want to go off the marked path and cause damage.

Very steep uphill to the waterfall for about 2km so be prepared for that.

wow! view, glaciers, etc

Go later in the day or early in the morning for more a secluded experience.

Beautiful!!! In case of bad wether, you might want to consider skipping the peak, as it is very slippery, rocky, windy.

Excelent trail!

Easy trail, nice break from the crowded section of the trail around the wf.

The end of the hike is the best part, the rest is mediocre views with flat terrain. Good for inexperienced hikers

The sjona-sker section of the trail is much more desolate and less crowded. The views are fantastic

I was very lucky, it was a beautiful day, the sky was clear and the wind was still. Then it's an amazing view especially at the peak.

Pretty but too many people, no peace!

short, 0,75 hard.

An easy loop to see the beauty of the national park in an hour. All on the well paved walking routes in the park. Some steep sections, all with wooden stairs. Starts at the viewing area next to car park P1. (parking costs 750 krona, cards taken)

Just an okay nature walk. Lots of tourists. Much better scenic views to take in.

I put 5 stars on a lot, but this was truly amazing and worthy of the best rating. Going clockwise is easier to hike but counter clockwise is a better view

This trail is beautiful!! Only has to be 1.4 miles RT if you don’t go all the way. A must do if you are in the area Also recording is WAY longer than it should be. We took tons of pictures and took our time

Belle randonnée avec magnifique point de vue sur le glacier au sommet. Joli détour par la chutes. Commencer par la S6 dans le sens des aiguilles d’une montre pour garder le meilleur pour la fin!
