Definitely more easy than moderate but still stunning and absolutely worth pulling over. There are three parking lots on the left side of the road (if you’re doing the ring road counter clockwise) before the large touristy lot. These three were totally empty for us, we parked and walked up to the far west section of the “path” (it was totally snowed over so we walked where we wanted to) and had the entire glacier lake to ourselves. Stunning.

Great hike. Definitely recommend for experience takers. Quite icy and steep at times. Please be careful. Enjoy!

This trail was beautiful! It took a little over an hour for us to complete. It was cold and icy, but the ice was minor. Beautiful landscapes, don’t forget to look behind you once in a while! We went during sunset which I definitely recommend doing.

Everyone says eastern Iceland is beautiful and worth driving through. However, we strongly recommend staying for a day and hiking this trail as it was easily the highlight of our ring road trip. It might not be worth going all the way up to the lake as the most beautiful parts of the hike are located on the first 2/3rds of the trail.

Absolutely wonderful hike. A bit longer than listed but worth it all. Total distance was a little over 8 miles. Muddy in some places and rocky in some places but nothing you can’t overcome. Highlight of the hike was having a reindeer come within 200yds of us. All photos taken with iPhone so a good camera would really capture the beauty of this hike. Waterfalls galore, beautiful colors throughout, lake at the summit of the hike and a freaking reindeer! Far away from the crowds and saw only 2 other hikers the entire time and they were on the descent. Must do for any hiker.

Amazing, takes longer to get all the pics, bits it’s unreal!!!! Layer clothes if it’s windy! Very impressive

Steep start to the trail but absolutely stunning once the trail levels out across the ridge. The trail keeps going beyond what the map shows. Well marked and easy to find!

That is one good hike that has to be done for better views and sxeneries. It starts of from the private property farm, where you can park outside of it. And walk on the the white bridge. Some fences need to be locked back to avoid sheeps running away. It was muddy as hell. It better to use one hiking pole for better support. Good hiking that prevent water from going into ur feet. You might need to scramble a bit at the end. But it's worth every step. Don't mess with the sheeps.

The road in was a bit bumpy, but the Toyota Yaris in front of us made it. Beautiful trail, but hard to follow at times. Saw only 6 other people on the trail... and three sheep!

We didn't have a great experience with this trail. There is an ~1.5 mile drive down a gravel road to get to the start. Nothing too bad but we didn't know about it until we got there. The whole bottom half of the trail is just the gravel road continued from where you park. The views are ok from that road but some of the least spectacular of our trip around Iceland. The worst problem was the actual trail was flooded out soon after it separated from the gravel road. It would have been passable if we were willing to get in up to our knees, but we had no idea what to expect after that point and just turned around.

Incredible. Best part of our trip to iceland

This was one of the more heavily trafficked hikes I did in June, but very pleasant with little benches along the way to enjoy the views or have a picnic. The path is a steady incline and pretty steep especially early on. The final approach was closed due to weather conditions but could still get a clear view at the end of the open part. Many families on the trail; one of the more kid-friendly hikes I was on in Iceland.

Trail with absolutely stunning views! Along the trail you will pass a couple of waterfalls, but none of the look alike! The trail is well marked by red sticks and parts of it have small wooden bridges over the swamp. Still, your feet likely get wet up to the ankle! Depending on the weather, you might even be able to see the Vatnajökull glacier at the horizon! Be aware though that the weather can change really quickly! During the 2.5 hours it took us, there was sunshine, rain and even a bit of hail. But it was worth it! Also, expect for the sheep, we only met two other people on the trail. Don't worry about being cold after the hike. It begins and ends at a little mountain hut. They offer to use the natural hot tub and their shows for about 1500 krona p.p. We liked it so much, we camped there for a night.

Spectacular scenery, as well as diamond beach.

F-road if you have a 4x4 will take you all the way up the trail/road. Gravel and dirt, very wide and easy to turn around. Awesome views, up hill, windy, meadows and the fjord!!!!!

This trail is fantastic. Low traffic, huge payoff at the top, and a quick trip one can do as they drive the ring roads. Closer to three miles and decent elevation gain for the distance. Only saw two other hikers the entire time so it is a great place to find some isolation. Multiple waterfalls along the way.

Great trail with lots of variety. Starts in farmland and goes to a river gorge. The river was flooded when we went and we couldn’t complete the loop at the end but there are great views of the lava rocks if you follow the river a little further down.

This is a fantastic walk with once in a lifetime photos. It is not really a "hike" as you are simply walking with other tourists along the beach, and I would say this is much more "easy" than "moderate" but one does not do this "hike" for the exercise, one does it for the views and the photos
