This was a steep and rocky trail from Stagiata to Portaria. Especially steep right at the beginning on the cobblestone path. You walk through olive fields between properties. You get a nice view of Volos while ascending if you turn around. The shady parts of the path have a good amount of bugs and some muddy spots (November). Took us 30 mins walking slow

Amazing hike! Beautiful views the whole way up. The trail is marked really well and it would be hard to get lost. It’s about 1 mile to the top, which is slightly step but could be done by almost anyone with adequate rests. We got caught in a thunderstorm on the way down which made the journey magical!

Beautiful views and the way going up and down from town is really nice but once you get to the monasteries all of the way is through the very crowded road next to cars and busses. We would prefer to split the hike into two, one from Kalampaka to Holy Trinity and St. Stephen monasteries and the other one from Kastraki to Great Meteora Monastery.

I found the app recently and found this trail. I live 10 minutes away so i gave it a try. At the beginning light walking but halfway it gets a little bit steeper it’s alright don’t worry. If someone want do go to meteora and don’t want to go with a taxi or a bus it’s a good alternative.

This is again a great scenic trail and passes through the lower part of Mouressi Village past local houses and gardens, before heading down to the beach through beautiful forest. The path to Damouchari (just after it splits from the Ag Ioannis track) was quite overgrown with blackberry and summer vegetation for about 75m when I walked it in August, and is more rugged than the other tracks I’ve walked in Pelion so far.

Just did the Kalambaka to Holy Trinity section. Lovely path up the valley. Too much road between the other monasteries to warrant hiking.

excellent walk for all seasons. in summer some sun exposure. diverse path through village roads full of olive trees, old stone paths (galderimia) natural paths, half in dense forest crossing streams, waterfalls and steep nature. excellent view of volos, sea and makrinitsa on the way up. a hidden gem, next to the city. doable without water, half a liter bottle and spring refills suggested. start of the parh is a bit steep, mid is an easy stroll with splendid view and the end a quite steep, wonderful final effort.

Nice round trail. Can visit three monasteries. The trail is easy and not crowded.

I recommend this trail to anyone who loves hiking, for the most part there is a flat surfaces trail going up the monastery. Easy path with great views

We followed the trail as described in the map. It is beautiful and diverse. The way to Makrinista starts in a path between olive trees. When it reaches the creek the trees changes and you find yourself in a dense forest. The bridge area is magical. Then we started climbing. It wasn’t easy but still beautiful. Especially the view to the sea. Makrinitsa is very beautiful. The trees, the houses, the church, the views. We ate something in a restaurant and started the way back to Stagiates. The way is mostly stone paved. It starts between the houses of Makrinitsa. Lovely. Then it reaches the river, and from there we climbed up to Stagiates.

This hike was short, steep and oh so sweet!! If it’s a hot day be sure to bring water.

Easy to moderate out and back hike in Meteora, Greece. Starts just outside of downtown Kalambaka and continues to the Monastery of the Holy Trinity. From there you can continue on to the St. Stephens Abbey on the road. Trail is clear with a few steep spots. Saw several other people picnicking on flat rocks off the trail and sunning themselves. There are several shaded areas and amazing views of Meteora.

great view and landscape with bridges and a small waterfall. It is like you walk through the world of mythical creatures and fairies.
