This was a steep and rocky trail from Stagiata to Portaria. Especially steep right at the beginning on the cobblestone path. You walk through olive fields between properties. You get a nice view of Volos while ascending if you turn around. The shady parts of the path have a good amount of bugs and some muddy spots (November). Took us 30 mins walking slow

A Nice easy hike on a well maintained gravel road that leads to a lighthouse. Beautiful views and nice wooded terrain, which was varied from olive to pine trees to brush as we walked northbound to the tip of the island. There are a few friendly cats that “guard” the lighthouse, so bring some cat treats

Great trail. Hike started on a forest road passing through a mixed forest, transitioning quickly to evergreens, Balsam and Spruce, and occasional olive groves and rustic farms. The second half of the hike opened up to hills covered with low growing bushes and shrubs (which were in full flower at this time of year and provided a background melody of bees buzzing as we passed). There were many opportunities for views of the ocean and the hilltops. We were rewarded at the end of the trail with a visit to the Faros lighthouse and it’s a keeper, a friendly cat! Overall a pleasant, easy hike on well-maintained road (likely due to lighthouse presence) with rewarding views. Highly recommended.

Boring trail. Marked but not maintained. Lot of walking on a dirt road. Some boars in the area.

short hike in the foreast. path along the river crossing small wooden bridges

excellent walk for all seasons. in summer some sun exposure. diverse path through village roads full of olive trees, old stone paths (galderimia) natural paths, half in dense forest crossing streams, waterfalls and steep nature. excellent view of volos, sea and makrinitsa on the way up. a hidden gem, next to the city. doable without water, half a liter bottle and spring refills suggested. start of the parh is a bit steep, mid is an easy stroll with splendid view and the end a quite steep, wonderful final effort.

We followed the trail as described in the map. It is beautiful and diverse. The way to Makrinista starts in a path between olive trees. When it reaches the creek the trees changes and you find yourself in a dense forest. The bridge area is magical. Then we started climbing. It wasn’t easy but still beautiful. Especially the view to the sea. Makrinitsa is very beautiful. The trees, the houses, the church, the views. We ate something in a restaurant and started the way back to Stagiates. The way is mostly stone paved. It starts between the houses of Makrinitsa. Lovely. Then it reaches the river, and from there we climbed up to Stagiates.

great view and landscape with bridges and a small waterfall. It is like you walk through the world of mythical creatures and fairies.
