Brilliant dog friendly walk. Got a bit lost in the moorland towards Higgor Tor as we did the route in reverse

Can get quite busy and muddy but a nice short walk, good for families

Tough climb to start but great views from the top and a gentle walk down and back. recommended even on a grim winter's day

Very muddy and sludgy during my walk on 20th November as it was just after all the heavy rain but i didn’t find it off putting, so perfect for the dog as it’s got fields to throw balls/sticks and wooded areas for sniffing and exploring. Only problem was half way round you have to walk down a very small but busy country road with no path. Great walk!

We went up the from the bottom of stanage edge and walked up and then scrambled through the rocks it was a challenging walk especially because we took the harder inclines and the clockwise route, so started from the end to the bottom.

The first part clockwise is definitely *not* easy. The stream was difficult to cross, especially with a dog, and the scramble up turned first outcrop quite hard. From there on it was much easier, save the boggy area. I chose to bin the complete walk and headed to the Tor. The Tor climb and back to the car park was so much easier. Off to the caravan with soggy walking boots for a warming soup.

Well maked out flat and easy route to end my day.

We found it quite which was great. Parking is in the surrounding roads in well organised lay-byes. you can start from almost any point on the walk.

Why does Phillip Smith hate this route so much?

had to cut short as I forgot my supplies...from the start I would say this is atleast moderate hiking...wildlife is amazing and great views

Great short walk for the dogs

Nice walk, some parts are quite overgrown but enjoyed a Sunday afternoon stroll with lovely views.

This is an excellent circular walk from the lovely little village, ideal for novice walkers. The rise isn't too steep and the view from the crags are quite special if the weather is clear. Some parts of the second half of the trail after the crags are quite overgrown, particularly along the field edge off Hangmanstone Lane and the wooded area thereafter. Lots of bugs and nettles in summer too.
