Unfortunately the Hanningfield reservoir does not allow dogs, but the area itself is outstanding. Lots of wind in the willow themed wooden statues and plenty of scenery. The visitor centre is quite small, so if you want food aim for a 15-20 min wait when it’s busy.

Some of the paths are extremely muddy and slippery in places, but you can easily track round most of the worst places. The views are lovely and there’s plenty to see along the way. I’ll definitely come back and see the area in spring/summer.

The route itself is easy enough, with good footing throughout. The majority of the scenery is pretty grim (mostly refineries) but the sea wall section, with all the mural art is fantastic! This route may be better in spring/summer for the scenery.

I would recommend this trail to anybody looking to get lost for a couple of hours before either walking back or jumping on a train at one of the station you come across on the way I choose to walk to Southend central enabling me to get back in time to pick the kids up!

The coastline is beautiful, really picturesque with the rows of beach huts. The middle section is a little boring as it’s just through the middle of a residential area, but the seafront makes up for that.

it's a little boring

Great coastal walk, must try again in the summer! Lots to see along the beach fronts and plenty of scope to expand the route. There’s not a lot of parking near the start finish point, but we found somewhere else with minimal difficulty.

Good walk, enjoyable, easy to follow and not to strenuous but hilly in places. Worth noting it passes The General Arms Pub at the half way point.

Good trail, a bit flooded and muddy in places but a good circular walk.

Great looped walk with great views of the creek. Could let dog off lead most of the walk.

Unfortunately due to recent rainy weather conditions, pretty much the whole route was excessively muddy and any grass was rain soaked. The part of the route across farmers fields was really unclear at one point as it indicates you should walk across the middle of a field which a) I wasn’t actually sure if you were allowed to do, b) the mud would have just built up on my boots to a ridiculous degree resulting in unstable traction with excess weight. I can imagine it’s a lovely walk in good weather. There are benches along the route to rest and take in the views. There are plenty of sheep along the way, there is also a myriad of different mushrooms. I wish I knew the names as the variety was immense with different sizes, shapes and colours! In summary, it is a substantial walk made all the harder because of the rain soaked terrain. You do also see some lovely houses

Brilliant walk! So so beautiful and explores through different landscapes! Def recommend

Lovely easy walk on a wet Sunday morning. Walked a bit further than needed as very easy going and wanted to look in the visitor centre. Along the route there are various Wind in the Willows character sculptures, which as it turns out is a great trail for youngsters. Would definitely bring the grandchild back with us for a little adventure. Visitor centre and cafe is spacious and the coffee and cake is reasonably priced.

Nice easy little walk. Beautiful day. Sun shining on the sea with the sail boats meandering along made it picture perfect.

Very hot day tempered by the fresh coastal breeze. Part of the walk had been re-routed which cut a big corner off the route. If only I had recorded the route as I walked it then I could show exactly where it was... Next time... Easy walk, some lovely sea and country views, and also a little bit of coveting of the lush properties along the route. Dog friendly beach judging by the amount of canines that were evident on and off lead. Some of the walk is literally on the beach so not great for buggies or bikes. I will take photos next time.

Lovely walk through wood and heathland. Great directions and easy to follow. Definitely worth taking the slight detour as per directions the view is amazing. It does have some fairly steep inclines and poor hubby with his dodgy knees benefitted from having his walking poles. Nice safe walk for my dog as well, only a short distance on roads

Lovely walk lots of woodland dog really enjoyed it. Perfectly finished with a well deserved pint in the anchor.

Great trail and very easy to follow the route on here. Some great views of constable country. We really enjoyed it - thank you!

Lovely little walk. Was great with the dog as much of it was shaded. Some road walking but mainly on quite roads so not too much of a problem. Would Definitely do again.

Beautiful walk, great for dogs though keep under close control. The two stiles were easily negotiated and all livestock were enclosed. Free car park and lovely cup of tea at the end of the walk at the sailing club bistro.
