Good walk on the first sunny day in January after weeks of rain. Easy to get the train to Southease. Lots of up and down but easy to follow and nice pubs in Lewes at the end

most of this trail that isn't on roads is like a bog. also, approx half way through the route on the app takes you through private land. stick to the Bewl Water Circular walk

Sadly this trail is now unusable. The rail crossing as marked is closed and there is no safe alternative route to rejoin the trail until you reach Beddingham. We continued along the river and across the railway at Southease. Sadly having walked along the verge of the A26 we learned we could not rejoin the trail by the railway as the area is now a composting plant and closed to the public. We had to continue along the A26 verge (dangerous and ill advised) until we reached the pavement at Beddingham. In Beddingham the trail also went cold, driving us back onto the A27 until we rejoined the trail heading up Station Road into Glynde. With time and daylight against us we cut straight across from Mount Caburn to Lewes Golf Club and back down to the car. Muddy, as expected for this time of year, the trails we found were in great condition. Some of the styles need attention. Kissing gates were all in great condition and the pavements, where we found them were in good condition also. Shame about the rail crossing/trail closure. It wasn't so enjoyable as we spent 2-3 miles on the verge of the A26 and probably 40% of our time on a roadway.

The South Downs are incredible — gorgeous walks for miles that aren’t too challenging but provide lots of pretty views such as the seven sisters and the sea houses right there.

Big wide track through the woods in the beginning (a little boring, mostly for mountain bikers) but the pinetum is fantastic!

This was a lovely walk. Clear directions made it easy to follow. Lots of photo opportunities along the way as the views were excellent. The pub was well placed for a mid-walk lunch. The church was also worth a visit: beautiful ancient building with lots of character. The tea-room wasn’t open on the day of our walk but it would have been a good alternative to the pub. The uphill section was fine if punctuated by occasional pauses. The advice to take the right hand path at the end was good. It rewarded us with the final superb views. For us, the right length of walk, it was most enjoyable.

Great panoramic views for a long period of time! Fantastic countryside. Recommended.

Not easy unless you want to spend the day on it. I would not let it intimidate you if you are unsure if you're fit enough, since even seeing the seven sisters from Birling Gap is amazing, but this is not an easy hike. Each of the seven sisters requires you to go up and down a steep incline, that is the most treacherous part if you are not able to walk several flights of stairs in one go. I would also wear appropriate footwear. i imagine if it were raining then it would be very slick. the good news is that the path along the cliff is very wide, 15m meters at it's most narrow and much wider at many points, so you will not hold up any other parties if you want to take your time. i had misread the elevation and hoped to run most of it and was unable to do so, it was simply too steep. if you are looking to run it then you can run the very initial .8 miles, walk the cliffs, then run the final 2 miles back to the car park after the last sister. I did not do the full loop so I cannot comment on the inland part of the loop. we took the 12x from Brighton to East dean Bus Shelter, walked a mile to Birling Gap (have a detailed map or ask for directions, it goes through residential area), had a cappuccino naturally, hiked and ran the cliffs, then finished at the Seve Sisters car park (near Friston car park) and took the 12x back to Brighton. round trip the bus was $7 for a 24 hour pass.

Good size trail for 2-3 hours. First half along the coast - great views, second half - walk through fields, nothing really to look at. Well marked.

Great trail, thoroughly enjoyed it. It is hilly on the coastline so wouldn’t rate as easy.

Great walk! We went a bit further around than the route, added an extra 2k on top. Very quiet area, stunning views all around. Different grades of climbing/ terrain, nothing overly steep though. A+

Great all rounder with a section of South downs with great views

Great Sunday walk, and a lovely pub at the end!

This is a great walk if you like a bit of solitude as it seems like not many people uses the majority of this trail. Great views from the top of the Downs and fun crossings of vast corn fields.
