Get ready. Unreal views at the top. This kicked my butt, and the rock scramble at the end is very tough. Totally worth it though.

Need a flashlight for the entrance. First 6 meters is very tide

Agradable sendero, bastante humedo para la region, elevaciones regulares durante la mayoria del trayecto. en la bajada, a 3/4 de la base, hay un mirador con vista a la costa (Zapallar y Cachagua).

Incredible stroll. Ensure you get to the end to view the crater. Take in the history/mystery of fhe Island.

Phenomenal

This is a beauty of a walk & intake of history. Aside from thd small incline to see the Moai, there are occasional steps that go further up to view some Moai still half carved into the mountain.

Awesome trail during spring time and first summer period, then unfortunately it gets pretty dry and hot. Regular rocks during last 1km to mountain peak (outdoor clothes are only important if you take the last quarter).

Tough but very worth the ascent. Check seasonal regulations to make sure the summit is open, and start early! You'll have to comply with timing regulations, as they usher everyone off the summit at 2pm (may change seasonally).

Varied trail. Last parts are a bit tough, scrambling up and over rocks. But, the pay-off is totally worth it.

Sentier pas toujours bien indiqué et en plein soleil. Apportez beaucoup d’eau, voire un pique-nique pour prendre une pause bien méritée au sommet. Randonnée relativement facile, très accessible lorsqu’on n’est pas pressé dans le temps!

Glad we made it out alive. Rode/carried fully loaded mountain bikes up to plaza de mulas while biking from Buenos Aires to Caracas in the 1988. Felt a little queasy and since already May and no one else on Mountain decided to turn back, just in case a storm came, but amazing views.

you see petroglyphs and the waves crash against jagged volcanic rock. good value for the effort

beautiful place! would not recommend to anyone that isn't in really good shape, or to anyone who is afraid of heights. the last several miles are rock hopping and scrambling without any shade at all

Conaf marks this trail as ‘high difficulty’ and I can see why. The official hiking trail (well marked with red arrows) is 7k up, 7k down, and my GPS matches this almost perfectly. Some of the recordings above are partly on the road which ends at the 5k (walking) mark hence the distance is higher. The first 5k is a steady incline but not too steep and actually quite easy (for someone of average fitness like me). At 5k there is a shelter and water point - a simple fresh water stream but the water is clean. The 6th k gets a bit steeper and the final k is tough - steep incline clambering over boulders. The top is amazing. On a clear day you can see the entire width of chile - from the Argentinian Andes to Valparaiso and the Pacific Ocean. There are amazing views in every direction, a true panoramic. The 1500m downhill trek is hard on the knees. Me and the misses had no trouble getting up but both suffered sore knees on the way down. A taxi from Olmué to the entrance to the park costs around 3.000 pasos. Park entrance is 4.000 pasos for non-Chileans (accurate as of Feb 2019). Park opening times are 09:00 till 17:30. We were there till 18:30 and the ranger was still there but it looked like he was about to lock the gate (stops cars from leaving but pedestrians can still get out).

Day hike up trough the valley to the campsite. Their I did a little loop to the adjoining valleys and gletsjers before heading back over the same trail. A couple parts have been washed away by water, so you have to climb over some rocky and gravel areas. Be carefull the gravel parts are very slippery. But the views were awesome!!

A must see for your visit to Easter island.

Does not exist! We tried to find the trail for an hour, no luck, and we also asked the ranger at Vinapu who also said there is no coastal path to Rano Kau. That said, Vinapu is well worth a visit and the site has a lot of interesting cultural history, and Rano Kau is just awesome.

Craziest hike I’ve ever done, definitely a difficult endeavor, nothing but elevation but gives you a great sense of accomplishment. Last bit is scrambling up rocks. Make sure to get to the park early.

Not an easy hike, took me 8 hours in total. In fact, I've seen better forests and peaks in Chile, so not verry impressed. OK for some sports.

The view is worth it! Hard toward the end but made for one of the best days / hikes of my life!

Exciting, technical trail that I would rate as difficult not so much for any elevation gains, but more for the loose rocks and ever-changing landscape. Park at the Portillo Hotel and Ski Resort (free) in the off-season (southern hemisphere summer) and proceed to the left side of the lake. Most of the trail is along the shoreline and is relatively easy with a few climbs to circumvent snow gullies and steep shoreline spots that are impassable. Dangerous, loose rocks on climbs and descents, but the views are mind-blowing and will leave a lasting impression. Not sure about overnight restrictions, but there is no entry fee and swimming is allowed but as with any alpine lake, it is darn cold. Mystical location that oozes history. Bring lots of water and sunscreen. The fishing is decent too.
