Great trail - the first few kilometers are difficult (incline only) but totally doable. THE trail is well maintained and the lake is in a lush, spectacular area. There is a 3-6k peso fee to enter the park. We went in dead of summer, and drank a ton of water. There were two water sources out on the trail. Lots of wildflowers and epic Mountain views.

First part is a road for camping if you don't stay there. the end point is great though. Alternative is to do the walk of El Toyo (or El Puma), lots of winding paths with in the weekends campers everywhere. you stay closer to the river there, which is nice, but you'll have to 're-find'the trail a lot of times

Located in Parque Natural Aguas de Ramón: a nice short loop trail with fantastic views of Santiago. This parque actually offers 3 loop options (see photo: we took the medium-sized blue path). We walked in the direction of South Face, looping back along the North Face trail. First kilometer has much of the elevation gain and levels off for the rest of the hike. Coming back down the North Face trail seemed a more gradual grade change. Saturday afternoon in September; already a lot of sun and very little shade along most of the route. Bring lots of water and hat! I’d rate as moderate.

Nice trail for the beginner hiker. It is a trail that ends at a nice overview of the valley you just climbed out of. The good thing is that you register yourself at the administration, you let them know what trail you are taking so in case of an emergency they know where to look. When you are finished you register this again and you are safe and sound :)
