We checked out the Orchard trail for our 3rd hike of the #52HikeChallenge and were genuinely impressed. It’s so nice that we have this little plot of nature amidst its urban surroundings. We were lucky that there was fresh snow from the day before so our husky had an absolute blast playing in the snow. The sunset from behind the trees is gorgeous!

Nice easy dog walk. Nice scenery good quick hike.

To much dog pee in the winter. But great trail none the less!

Enjoyed this beautiful wide trail on a snowy afternoon!!

Beautiful for a mid winter walk!!

Great spot. lots of highway noise but the trails are endless back here.

Quick and easy hike. I did them in snowshoes which were not needed until the very top. Mostly flat with a few small uphill sections. Getting nearer to the top is uphill but not difficult. Well marked and a few people on the trail.

Deep snow added to the difficulty nice views of the valley between metcalf and pinnacle rock. Would be a good run in the spring/fall.

Very well maintained trail, even in winter. Parking areas closed around the perimeter, except for main parking by the dam. Park ranger mentioned no fee is required while the park is technically closed in winter. Nice views of the river and lake.

Good from the fielding park parking lot until the trail splits. Becomes a bit slushy. A bit of post holing until you can circle back where the two trails meet at the second junction. Had to turn around there.

Interesting life along the trail. Simple hike for a city wanderer. Took a new path at one point to weave back to main trail.

If hiking in winter, spiked boots are essential!

Great little outting. Nothing challenging, but the escarpment is pretty, the waterfall is nice, and the firepit is neat. I can see it being quite busy on weekends. $7.00 adult admission fee.

Great trail, very challenging winter hike. Snow shoes, micro spikes and gaiters are a must. Few steep sections where my snow shoes were not enough. The end and beginning of the trail is well marked but be prepared to trail blaze on your own in the mid section with little guidance from the blazes (especially since they’re white and very spread out). Lots of trees blown down over the trail make for great scrambling opportunities. Did this hike solo with a couple stops and took about 5 hours total in the snow.

I went midday and there weren’t too many people around. Nice and easy with some minor elevation.

Nice trail but I wouldn’t recommend in the winter unless you know it. Went off track & ended up doing some of the hard part trail. So was definitely moderate with 2 steep uphill climbs, one which seemed never ending. Will come back in the summer and try again. Did get some nice pictures when the sun came out
