Great trail! Easy hike - unless you pick the difficult rocky descent & ascent! Gorgeous ocean views. Beautiful little waterfall along the way. Trail well worn, rocky at times, good workout. Be careful on The Beamer on windy days :)

This was a great trail. Higher elevations and steeper climbs. It is mostly wooded with mossy areas and lichen covered pines, but has great views up and down the coast from the lookout. Otherwise you don’t see the ocean much. We hiked from Bauline to the second peak (250m), about an hour walking and then went back the way we came. We diverted at one point on a side trail that seemed to head towards a pond and had a bit of an over look, but then doubled back because we didn’t know where it went. Not a great view of the pond, so you can skip it. There were muddy parts throughout, so wear shoes you don’t mind mucking up a bit.

Good condition. Some recent windfalls near Bauline side. Eagle pair near Big Cove North. We were 5 hours and 10 minutes point-to-point (our GPS distance 16.9 kms). Best ocean vistas are at either end. There are elevated tent platforms about 4-5 kms from Bauline side.

Trail is well marked. To hike from Petty Harbor to the trail head for the Spout Path (about 14km) took under 4 hours. The views are nice, typical of the East Coast Trail.

when starting make sure to take the path on the right until you see the signs signalling the trail head. about a 4 min wak in. Once you get going on the trail it is Beautiful. Also nice for trail running, but watch as it is a little technical.

Do the loop, worth the walk

Easy... flat trail that rewards you with a beautiful fjord! A little too touristy! Busy

Some pretty scenery but as others have mentioned, this is mostly just the hike to get to the tour boat. Western Brook Pond is stunning, so if you’re taking the tour, the ends more than justify the means. If you’re not taking the tour, this trail isn’t a complete waste of time but should be down your list of priorities while at Gros Morne.

Nice walk, not much elevation so easy to have a chat as you go. A bit muddy and closed in for the first half but real nice after it opens up. A couple of small nice beaches to stop at along the way.

few to no markings with tons of side paths. honestly we just gave up because we had no idea which path to keep taking. we eventually found the loop, managed to go down to side paths that led no where, and then came came to the loop. went left and found even more unmarked side paths both seeming like they went somewhere.

Definitely a tough hike all around! first day is physically demanding for the first 4k.. lots and lots of trying to figure out which route to take then some steep scrambling to the top. once on top (4-36k) it will be rolling hills which can present their own challenge with tons of areas completely cut off due to brush. don't underestimate the terrain and ensure you use some solid boots - I cannot imagine someone would survive with running shoes. also, you WILL have wet boots/feet the entire time. you are hiking through swamp/marsh/bogs with a few scattered rocks here and there. we had awesome weather (only one day of downpour) and had a 10/10 time.

It was a great day. Might want your rubber boots though haha. Between the rivers and wet bog to hop over and black mud to maneuver. Also need more signage in places, a couple times we weren't sure to turn right or left. Decent trail overall but needs a bit of work.

Tough but rewarding trail. The views are incredible. Pretty rugged terrain, we lost the trail a few times

If there was a 3.5 rating I’d give it only because their are other trails in terra nova I like better. This trail is well maintained and has some really nice lookouts and beaches. I only saw one other couple on the entire hike so I was able to see quite a bit of wildlife. Pretty decent, I’d probably do it again one day.

We hiked a shorter section of this trail in and out, but the views along the trail are absolutely stunning. Trail was very easy to follow with a number of lookouts!

Some unique sights like the arch and coves. The calm water means you can see a lot more. We spotted a big jellyfish. Much of the grass path is overgrown. We got a bunch of bug bites too.
