if you are able too, leave the trail and walk the river in winter. not as much foot traffic as in summer. it is a nice easy trail. was snowshoeing today, and it was great.

Great trail. Liked that there are lots of trails to explore. Could use a few more garbage cans in some areas for dog poop bags. Will be going more often to this park and use it during summer and fall.

Awesome trail!

I really enjoyed this little trail. Lots of beautiful carvings. Tons of people out enjoying the winter day. Lots of cute Christmas decor in the trees. Tons of deer and wildlife. My only issue was parking. I am not from here and it was hard to find a street to park at to do this trail

I snowshoed the Prairie Winds Trail (formerly the White Tailed Deer Trail) recently and it is a short, 1.5 km loop trail beginning from the south road in Birds Hill. The trail is designated for snowshoeing in the winter. Unfortunately, what little snow there was at the time I visited, had been pretty packed down by people walking on the trail, so it didn't make for good snowshoeing conditions. The trail led through a mix of forest and grassland landscape and was pretty. I only wish it had been longer! Hoping that we get more snow so that the conditions improve here for snowshoeing!

Went in the middle of winter. Beautiful walk but, with a chariot, it was quite the workout because the boardwalk isn't cleaned. Can't wait to go back in the summer or fall.

The trail was very good and enjoyed it alot. Hiked in early Dec with snow and cold temps. Didnt make it to Jackfish Lake. Be careful that the ACTUAL Epinette Trail really starts 6km north of where Alltrails states. this adds another 10km to your hike to Jackfish.

It’s a nice trail in itself but is was so busy with dogs off leash (yet not an off leash park) and a fair amount of dog poo that it made it not enjoyable.

Nice trail. Will have to do it in fall. I had no clue where to park though, as I did not live in the area.

Very nice trail. Lots of deadfall and the snow is quite deep making it more of a moderate trail due to conditions. I snowshoed the long loop and really enjoyed Kinosao Lake and the boardwalk. Trekking poles and snowshoes a must. I saw lots of wildlife. Two does, a mink, a fox and wolves heard. Signs of bears still active however I didn’t see any. I’ll be doing this trail again in the warmer months to enjoy the sights a bit more.

Very very deep snow on this trail! I followed it way past the marked trail as I didn’t know where it was. I ended up near the back lake. Very pretty but snowshoes and trekking poles a must. I’m glad I had mine. I did get turned around right, after detouring an extra few kms, and managed to complete the circuit. Great for snowshoes or cross country skiing but too deep for hiking.

Favorite trail, all clear after the storm!

Good quality trail. Quiet and well maintained. One cabin about 3/4 way along normal loop near the limestone kiln. Only one really muddy patch with hidden deep puddles under ice despite the season. The longer route is about 8km and the shorter route is about 6km.

Sidebar: I've tried to get Google Maps to fix the start point because it takes you to the wrong spot. You need to turn off at West Hawk to get to the trail head. A perfect day for the trail. Temperature had cooled off so bugs were nowhere to be found, no leaves on the trees so a lot of great views of the lake but with that comes more wind. We were 4 and a dog, saw two other groups (5 people total) on the trail. Two of us had completed Hunt before, the 2 newbies were tired and sore by the end! Unfortunately there is still a good amount of garbage at the hut, one of our group took out as much as he could and we didn't have any more bags to take out more.

Great trail. I went back to Grey Owls cabin Sunday October 27th. This distance is further than this app maps out. The full hike is 17.9 km. Very hard and deep snow in spots. A lot of deadfall on the trail past the warmup shack. I was advised not to use my snowshoes yet by the park staff but I wish I took them as I fell through the snow often. Some slippery inclines, trekking poles a must. Saw lots of bear and moose tracks. Overall it is a great trail. Grey Owls cabin is well preserved.

Trail is technically difficult not physically. Trail markings can send you in wrong direction so need to pay attention- there are a few ‘shortcuts’ that can send you in wrong direction. The way back is poorly marked but if you handrail the lake you’ll be good. Hut at end of trail needs cleanup. I hiked to Ontario border on old trail which is very overgrown. Now that leaves are gone though it’s not bad.

Snowshoes recommended. Some blown down trees from the recent storm to scramble over. 6-8" of snow on the trail. Bears are active, so be prepared.

Good trail. Short, so we took a detour. It was a bit muddy and there are quite a few paths branching off of it that weren't well marked. Glad I had the map on this app.
